Tullioz 3,148
Three more idiots caught. Seems everyone has the same story that they are just using a friends luggage and had no idea there were any drugs. Another thing I found interesting is the stated value of the cocaine. P130 million for 28 kilos? That would come to over $95K per kilo if my math is correct. I can't see that figure being right even if it is pure. How many people here could afford to buy it at that price here in the Philippines? If they are stating the street value that would be around P4,500 per gram. That would put the cost of an 8 ball at about P16,000 and that would be after it has already been cut at least once. It doesn't seem like there would be much demand for cocaine here if that is the going rate. Even if the street dealers are selling it for less than P4,500 per gram, then the quality would have to be be pretty low once it reached the user since it would have to be cut again. Sounds like they may have made a mistake in estimating the value. Three foreigners nabbed at NAIA for P130M cocaine Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Three foreigners were arrested early Wednesday evening at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) when their luggage yielded kilos of suspected cocaine worth around ₱130M. Regional Director Wilkins Villanueva of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said the suspects were two Chinese from Hong Kong — Pau Homanevan and Chan Kawai — and Russian Kirdyushkin Yury. They were nabbed around 6:30 p.m. at NAIA Terminal 3, following a tip from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency. Villanueva said the three came from Sao Paolo, Brazil and took a connecting flight in Dubai to Manila. Initial inventory of the contraband included a total of about 28 kilos of suspected cocaine in powder form and another two bottles in liquid form. Airport authorities said the three were not together but just happened to be on the same flight. They added that the cocaine from the Russian was not intended to be sold in the Philippines as he was en route to Bangkok. All the suspects denied knowing about the illegal drugs — saying they were just requested by their friends to use the luggage for their flight to the Philippines. The suspects will undergo drug testing. They face a non-bailable offense with lifetime imprisonment. They had been temporarily held at the custody of PDEA, pending inquest. Authorities said they would also coordinate with the suspects' respective embassies. This is the second arrest recorded for the week at NAIA 3. On Sunday, airport authorities also arrested 22-year-old Filipino Jonjon Villamin Jr., who tried to smuggle around 5 kilos of cocaine into the country. http://cnnphilippines.com/news/2016/10/06/Three-foreigners-NAIA-millions-cocaine.html

Tell it to the judge! And I doubt they'll find a judge willing to be lenient as long as Du30 is in office.

bounder 1,157
Lucky they weren't 'executed' at the airport as drug dealers....it certainly would have alleviated a lengthy trial and future life of living in overcrowded conditions.
