rainymike 4,374
You can blame kitchen knife sellers and gun shops for the same, or the casinos. Drug dealers don't lie. Everyone knows what the drugs do. If they become unavoidably addicted and then unavoidably have trouble obtaining more, they can hang themselves. They're the cause of their own problems, not the drug lords. Not really. There are several problems here. One, is a person's own stupidity. Can't do much about that. We all choose our own poisons. But ... Second, is the effect that a person's stupidity affects others around that person - like children, neighbors, community. I'm less tolerant when innocents are affected. If drug abuse results in child abuse, neglect, and so forth ... then I'm all for putting that person in jail. And if the punishment is more severe, so be it. We don't live in our own isolated realities. On the other hand, if you wanted to live the life of a hermit and smoke shit up on Mt. Everest with no one around then I could care less. Third, is that some poisons are legal while others are illegal. There is a matter of public order and discipline. Sale and manufacture of shabu, ecstasy, etc. is illegal. And if the punishment for those crimes is death, well so be it. That was the drug dealers choice. Once a country fails to enforce its laws, or use the laws for corrupt purposes, then I say hang 'em high. Selling guns, knives, or casino gambling are legal activities. When they cross over into illegal activities (eg. illegal weapons for terrorist activities) then hang 'em high.

Come on Roger, do you suppose that a crooked cop would buy a "throwaway gun" legally? Or do you suppose it would be more likely to be one stolen from one of the many police outposts that get attacked every year?

Or do you suppose it would be more likely to be one stolen from one of the many police outposts that get attacked every year? We are getting silly here, sure cops may have a throw away gun, but not a rifle that they are going to carry with them and not a 250 thousand peso M4 at that. There are not that many Bushmasters in the country and if a cop has one, he isn't going to throw away a 250k peso gun to get a 50k peso reward. More likely he would drop a cheap .38 or .45 or at most a 9mm.

If he had one, that had been stolen from a police outpost, for instance, he may well want to dispose of it in such a way, rather than get caught with it.

They probably walk around with rifles in their pockets or their motorcycle saddle bags. Bushmasters are not purchased for police outposts. The standard issue rifles used by the PNP are the M16 manufactured by either Colt in the US or Elisco Tool in the Philippines. Edited June 22, 2016 by RogerDuMond
