With all due respect to the esteemed members of the Bar that practice pro bono on here go see a lawyer specialising in family law and get their opinion on the legality of her claim and the best way to end it quickly.

Was she running errands for you during the 4 1/2 years you've been together?  If so, P250k is cheap.  That's P4,630 a month salary for 54 months working for you.  That's almost a maid's salary.

If it were me I would agree to the settlement.  Get a lawyer to draft an agreement with you to close all possible lawsuits in the future.

Quit being cheap.  You loved her once.

Triple a maids starting salary in the province, but as far as I can see from the OP there was no written or verbal contract for work, therefore not an employee.

Your relationship ended after the marriage did not go ahead.

You remained on good terms, and she became your employee.

Her 'allowance' was actually her salary, and it also included lodging.

Yeah poor line of defence - rip me apart Ian!! Lol

It must have ended in the past week or so because he was still looking for an engagement ring for her a week or so ago.

It ended in January, I have a new gf now which is why the ex found out about it via facebook and has started being demanding. The notarized letter that I still have from her shortly after she did not show up to the wedding was back in May 2012.

So you met a new one in January, and are looking at engagement rings in May?

Lather, rinse, repeat...

I think the engagement ring is his for his new gf, which is probably one of the main reasons for his ex wanting a pay day..

Ok, i was a bit slow on that one

( bloody work getting in the way of a good drama )

ok I'll throw in my P3 here, pay her off but get her to a reduced amount. I'd offer a third of what she wants and go as high as half...Have the cash dangling in front of her and a signed agreement waiting, be sure to get 2 witnesses to the transaction. Ive been in a case like this albeit for a substantially lower amount but its wise to just pay them off, move on and learn from your experience.

Ive known more than one attorney here who advised a foreigner poorly just so that foreigner would come running back to him for representation later.

Na, I was to busy providing documentation that I was out of the state while she was busy filing false abuse charges under the American version of the abuse against women act so she could stay in the states..............5x

BTW.....Cleared of all charges and I have residential custody of my daughter

Doesn't your " wife" mean that you married the woman and she actually lives with you full time ?
