Favorite Phrases and Acronyms

I was searching around LinC and didn't find this topic so I thought I'd start it. If it has already been done, please point me to it!

During discussion in another topic it became clear to me that we Vets share a common language that is often misunderstood by civilians. I used the phrase "Nuke'em till they glow and shoot'em in the dark." The phrase was misinterpreted to mean that I condoned the killing of innocents, far from the truth! I think most of us who have served have done so out of a desire to protect the innocent folks!

So I began to wonder (yea I know maybe I should shut up and tune a guitar or something) what other phrases exist that are easily misinterpreted by civilians?

So I'll begin the list and hope that y'all will chime in with your favorites?

"Kill'em all and let God sort'em out"

FUBAR: "Fu**ed up beyond all recognition."

Ever heard of the term "Marine's Platter"...

That's what the navy use to call the flap that folded down after unbuttoning the 13 buttons on the old dress slacks.
