Best waterfalls

Recommended Posts

Just got back from my 21 day visit to Cebu, Palwan and Mindanao. The best waterfalls on Cebu island are Aquinid, Kawasan and lastly, Tumalog. The first one has five levels and really is an adventure because you climb them to five levels and it is very fun to do as water is gushing past and onto you. It is easy to get to. Kawasan is the next best. It is also easy to get to-just park at the church and walk along the beautiful trail for about 20 minutes. The falls was full of water and swimming is great. The best time is before 11 am before it gets crowded. Tumalog was a let down because there was not alot of water falling, still, nice to visit after seeing the whale sharks in Oslob. Easy to get to just take Tumalog Falls rd from the Hwy and park in their lot. Walk down a short distance. Snorkling was also good off the Hilton port area. Mactan island does not offer many good beaches for the public, which is sad, Vano beach is OK, but it is kinda in a remote area.

Thanks for the short trip report.  I'll have to visit Aquanid.  Did you, perchance, visit Mantayupan Falls in Barili?  I'd have to give that two thumbs up, better, imo, than Kawasan.

Yeah, but most are in very dangerous areas,

Plenty of them around Illegan.

And I have personal friends who live around Iligan, and have for MANY years, with no issues. I have visited Iligan City, and elsewhere in that region of Mindanao, many  times.

And NO WHERE near as commercialized. Kawasan used to be so nice. This was back in the early 2000s.

I was going to comment on the level of commercialization that has taken place over the years. I refuse to hire a "guide" to escort me to place 100 meters walk away, or hire a habal2 for p300 and leave my MC and gear parked 1 km away.

There are so many places we used to go and enjoy regularly that I will no longer go due to the level of commercialization the last few years.

Hear, hear. We had this happen in Mindanao and yes it does sour your otherwise pleasant experience.

Know the exact location of 'Liki Falls', in barangay Tagbao?

Green Trail Ride #19 included a Green Trail Hike

One did not need a Dual Sport Motorcycle, as I took the car to Barangay Tagba-o, so Sha-Sha and baby Anzhelica-Kate could come along. I also gave a lift to 2 x Australian fiends of Brett (govoner).

The Green Trail Hike to the 'Managsanga Falls'was only about 1Km but was a bit tricky in places and you were going to get your feet wet.
We hired Guide/Porters, to carry bags and cold box of beers, which is just as well as it was tricky enough stopping myself from slipping, without carrying baby Anzhelica.

As you can see from this festival to feature mountain barangays, held earlier this year, there is another Waterfall in Barangay Tagbao, called Liki Falls.

Has anyone been to the Liki Falls and can tell us where exactly, they are situated?

Have not seen any Photos of such Liki Falls on Panoramio!

Cebu City: festival to feature mountain barangays

Quote

In its goal to make Cebu City an event city and promote outdoor Cebu, Cebu City Tourism Council (CCTC) looks at tourism the other way as it goes beyond the celebration of the annual Sinulog Festival (which is still far away). This month, it will be leading the four - day 8th Visayas Mountain Festival together with the local city government.

Since 70% of Cebu City’s geographical area is in the mountains, and beaches are simply inexistent, the festival will showcase the beauties of the mountain barangays in Cebu City that are unfamiliar to the Cebuanos. These barangays are Sudlon 2, Tabunan, Tagbao and Tap-tap.

Aside from being the City’s source of fresh vegetables, Sudlon 2 is a cradle to numerous caves, while Tabunan is the home to the remaining forests in the city.

The other two, Tagbao and Tap-tap boasts scenic falls. Barangay Tagbao is proud of its two falls, namely the Managsanga and Liki FallsTap-tap, on the other hand, has Linut-od Falls. Aside from that, Tap-tap is the city’s source of flowers, sweet corn, as well as identified by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to have grown the endemic species of cinnamon and flower beggar.

The event is organized by the University of San Carlos Mountaineers and the Mountaineering Federation of the Philippines and will be held on March 31 to April 3, 2011.

In many places nowadays, yes, they will not let you in without a guide. In at least one instance, I had been there before the guide was even born.

This is NOT the case @ 'Mantayupan Falls' in Barili.

There is an Entrance Fee (PHP15/20) and a short walk.

They seem to have created a 'Spillway'  to the  left, creating a 3rd Waterfall to the lower level @ Mantayupan Falls.

When we went to  'Managsanga Falls'  in Barangay Tagba-o, there was no Entrance Fee or compulsory Guides (although it is advisable to hire a local to show you the way the 1st time (and to help carry food, drinks etc).

Iligan is the waterfall capital of the Philippines, but the waterfall capital of Cebu is definitely Samboan. There is SIX waterfalls within the Samboan area, of which Aguinid is one.

1.* Kawasan Falls, Badian
2.* Inambacan Falls, Ginatilan
3.* Mantayupan Falls, Barili
4.* Mainit Falls, Malabuyoc
5.* Bugasok Falls, Argao
6.* Mangitngit Falls, Carmen
7.* Bagatayan Falls, Sugod (along the road)
8.* (Mga ginagmayng Falls), Mantalungon
9.* (Mga ginagmayng Falls), Trancentral Highway
10.* (Gamayng falls), Naga
11.* Aguinid Falls, Samboan
12.* Tabunan Falls, Balamban
13.* Budlaan Falls, Talamban
14.* Tinisa'g Uwang, Talamban
15.* Binaliw, Talamban
16.* Bonbon, (Somewhere south wako katoltol)
17.* (No name), Campo Quatro, Pardo man cguro ni
18. (No name), San Fernando

that is not a full list by any means. This guy here http://www.pinoytravelfreak.com/2015/09/full-list-of-waterfalls-in-cebu.htmlhas identified 90 waterfalls in Cebu province (88, on Cebu island). 24, in metro Cebu alone!

Hi, I would like to ask if anyone here knows if the Canyoneering activity at Kawasan Fall is now operational? I heard that they closed the activity recently due to some frequent accident and malpractice. We will be going to visit southern part of Cebu this coming August and would like to try the canyoneering. I hope someone could answer.

Thanks in advance.

Operators in Panagsama, Moalboal, do canyoneering to at least four other falls, a bit further from Kawasan, up the road to Mantalongon.

As for Kawasan, I will ask PlanetAction
