Holiday Plaza Hotel - Cebu

A short report on my recent stay at Holiday Plaza Hotel, F Ramos Street.

Rate: PHP1325 With Breakfast

Large room with window and view

1 Queen bed and 1 Single bed, both very comfortable.

In Ceiling Air-Conditioner with controls beside the bed

Desk and Chair as well as a table and chair.

Fully stocked fridge / Minibar and drinks etc were quite reasonable.

Large Older Style CRT type TV but was connected to a cable box that had almost every standard definition channels available,

Shower was over the bath and plenty of Hot water and great water pressure.

Towels were changed every day. (Rather small size for me, but I always bring my own anyway)

The breakfast was a disappointment. The first day it was cold and not many choices at 8am.

The following morning I tried it at 6am, it was still cold and not many choices, went elsewhere the rest of the time.

While they have great wifi and reasonably fast (for the PI) They use a 3rd party provider.

You have to get a separate user access number and password for each device (In my case 2, Cell and Laptop) and you are charged P40 per 24 hours each.

Not only that, you have to renew the access and password every 24 hours :idontknow:

I booked online and had no issue until it came to the deposit section.

They do not take Credit Card, Either Bank Deposit or cash ! WTF A hotel that does not take credit card ????

No problem, I just did bank transfer from my BDO account to Their BDO Account.

But bloody hell, It took 5 days to reach their account and the BDO stung me P300 for the privilege. :idontknow:

The owner was very approachable and understanding, and after saying I was disappointed about the breakfast, which I had prepaid, deleted the breakfast charge and WiFi fee.

Was told that creditcard will be accepted very soon and they are looking at the WiFi situation.

In Summary:

It is conveniently located being close to Robinsons,(basically accross the road) 80p taxi to Ayala (20 mins walk Yes I walked back as the taxi queue was so long) or SM Cebu or 160p to SM Seaside and a minutes walk to Time Out :yahoo:

It is not the “Parklane” but It is clean and comfortable, Guest friendly, and IMHO good value for money.

Would I stay there again, Yes, not a problem.

Remember, This is how I saw it, YMMV.

I used to stay there years ago, but once they changed hands I switch to the Diplomat (right down the street ) . I liked it then and like the people who worked there . There was one fact that I did not like back then, I did not like the safe location (at the front desk ) hopefully then have now put a safe in each room... glad U had a good trip

That was the very first hotel I stayed at 8 years ago..I see they upgraded there TV's ..when i was there it as a very small CRT,now its larger you say..haha..I felt the rooms very outdated and tired looking.Even back then the breakfast was garbage..I cant remember anything about the internet back then but i know the Diplomat back then had the same deal about paying so much a day which is BS by nowaday standards. As paul said the rooftop to me is the only attraction I liked when I stayed there...The viagra guys then were all over the place there and so were the glue sniffing kids asking for money.....

I was told by one of the regulars that after the lady owner died the family sold it .... I guess it could have been a Urban Legend, I have no real contact with the hotel at all.

I believe the rate is flexible

I just paid the website rate, but I guess you could call them for a rate :idontknow:

I just check Holiday Plaza for the middle of March for one week and the rate is P1,750 promo regular P3000.00. Overrated IMHO.

Was that online or direct,

The reason I ask is it is a lot higher than what I paid yesterday
