Best beaches in the Philippines?

Recommended Posts

Everything here looks nice until you close in...

true, all pics are photoshopped nowadays. Remember back years ago when the saying was a picture is worth a thousand words? Well now a days you have to see it yourself to believe it.

Most beaches on Philippines travel brochures look amazingly inviting. I have been on many beaches here. Some are no good for real swimming coz of rather shallow water even at high tide. Some have lots of very sharp rocks that put me of even getting close to water.  Siargao Island  had clean white sandy beaches for swimming, even better at high tide with nice waves rolling in for bit of body surfing fun. Beaches around San Fernando,  La Union in western Luzon were also ok.

Guess I've been spoilt by Australian beaches; to me, if it doesn't have waves big enough to body surf, it's not a beach :(.

For an uncrowded beach just to laze around on, with few tourists but enough bars/restaurants for comfort, Port Barton, Palawan is my favourite.

For beaches with good crystal clear water with good snorkelling (corals/marine life), the islands off Coron and Linapacan.

For a "Robinson Crusoe"  type beach, the beach on Dinamayan Island, Palawan.

Edit: when I figure out how, I'll post some photos.

Ok. My favourite beach...so far.   Bounty Beach Malapascua Island.

Here few of my fotos of the beach during day, one sunset from the western end and a sunrise from the other.

Man, so much beauty over there!!! I'd have to  figure a way not to get sunburn every day (and ward off the mosquitoes?). I think I'd spend every day near water, bird watching and sketching.

My little mate enjoyed this place, a short boat ride away. Not what you call a beach but nice anyway.

Pundaquit Beach, Zambales, also Botolan Beach, Zambales. The beach in Botolan has miles of nothing on it. If you want solitude its great.

The attached picture is of Nagsasa Cove at Pundaquit.

I do. I spend hours every day in my hammock watching the palms blow In the wind and the waves roll in.

I have no idea why anyone would come here and Live in the noisy, smelly cities when they could live cheaply on the beach somewhere. To each their own. :idontknow:
