Best beaches in the Philippines?

Recommended Posts

Pman

Recently got asked where the best beaches are in the Philippines. So I thought I'd start a thread on the topic.

Best one I've seen was on apo island. Great snorkeling/ diving too.

I hear Borocay is overblown tourist area now.

I've heard Palawan has some nice beaches but I don't know where.

And Mindanao apparently has great beaches but it's in a no-go warning area according to some embassies. Please don't pull his thread off topic with safety or no discussion, we have enough threads on that.

So there are a lot of locals on here. Where are the best beaches in the Philippines? I'm sure we can do better than lonely planet guide since we live here. Let's hear i from the locals: name your favorite beaches!

Just went to Camotes a few weeks ago and stayed at Santiago Bay Garden and resort it was quite nice the beach on Santiago with good food and cheap beer, 35 pesos for a San Miguel Light but I did much prefer another beach closeby called Bakhaw for swimming.

You gone up to Sugar Beach in Sipalay yet? Long ride but it's very nice.

It won't be for long, next thing you know someone will post a video on Youtube. Five years later it will be overrun with tourists, and just another Boracay.

Nope but I'll add it to list. Better than Borocay?

Maybe If we list enough places no one will get over run.

You know I did that on purpose, right?

I dunno - never been to Boracay.  It's just a cool little place to chill for a few days.

DAKAK in Zamboanga del Norte

But the best local public beach 5 mins away from home would have to be Tingko

they call it as little Boracay pictured here ..

Let me ask..  what is it about a beach that makes it a great beach?

I suspect we all have different ideas about what makes a beach great.  Personally I like a beach with no-one else there, except maybe a fisherman pulling in some nets, and a nice on shore breeze.  I don't care about white sand, or water craft, or scuba diving, or a bar close to the beach.  I like a place with no man made mechanical sounds.  My favorite beach is here in my town..  and it's my favorite just because it feels good for the soul every time I visit there.

Mantigue is a small island located about 3.5 km off the coast of volcanic island province of Camiguin

Mantigue Island can be reached by light water craft in 25–30 minutes from Brgy. San Roque in the town of Mahinog.
