i don't think this has anything to do with feeling sorry for the guy or the girl for that matter.. or not

it has more to do with the cop and in a broader sense law enforcement over all

people are corruptible, in many cases, sadly, very easily so

and the more you allow for cops to be judge jury and executioner the more the line will be crossed.. and that is a very real and big danger

cops being the beneficiaries of some special level of public trust need to follow the constitution even more carefully than just your average joe

it's already being eroded enough from all sides

Just another day at the office for "out of control" American law enforcement.  He "forgot" he shot a man in the neck and provided no first aid at all.  Should be charged with attempted murder.  Just m

What a load of shit.   What was his finger doing on the trigger then? I've never heard of any academy   that doesn't teach officers to keep their finger off the trigger and indexed along the frame u

It's only relevant if police are entitled to punish offenders. They aren't. It's not their job.

This is taught in civil science courses in junior high school, so I assume you already know this. I therefore have to assume you are saying you disagree with the law, and would like police to be permitted to shoot anyone they feel deserve it.

Is that correct? If so, I am suprised you believe agents of the state should be given this much power.

Firstly, the question wasn't directed to you. It was directed to Woolf, whom still has yet to reply - as I knew he wouldn't. Socialists don't consider victims, only that the criminal is let off easy. I, however, am an avid supporter of Capital Punishment.

Secondly, I stated the guy got what he deserved. What happened to him was Karma, plain and simple.

Thirdly, I have never stated the officer was within the law to shoot the guy, only that I have no personal issue with the outcome. (I am an Old Testament believer. That is, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth belief.)

Fourthly, if they find the officer guilty for such an action, then he will pay for it.

Again, when I view the video, and I have numerous times now and at various speeds, what I SEE is, an innocent woman being ejected from the car. (Look at the top left corner of the video, from :18 to :20 seconds in, with the video playing at 1/4 speed, and with the view window maximized.) Screenshot below.

I feel HER murder should be paid for. And, it was.

I think the Justice system is the reason things have reached this stage......even if we have only a miniscule problem in OZ in relation to cops shooting without really scrutinised evidence then he will be hung out to dry.......I can understand the frustration among our police that they put their lives at risk only to have the courts let the offenders off with not much more than slap on the wrist type sentence.....and the people are sick of this.....

For example yesterday........

Two men who shot dead an innocent father at a children’s birthday party could be free from jail in four years.

Three men, including Ozan Yusuf and Ogu-zhan Gurkan went into the Melbourne property armed with a shotgun and petrol.

They had been instructed to help settle a dispute that the third man had with the owner of the home.

What the didn’t know was that people had gathered at the home for a child’s birthday party and Ben Monteath was simply there to pick up his friend.

The 39-year-old was gunned down outside the Epping home in May 2014.

The term that irks me is career criminal!  There should be a point where they are just shot, even as in this case accidentally.  Jester

I feel zero pity for the drunk

I agree totally ... the drunk got what he deserved ...

My concerns were about the actions of the officer and how they "appeared" on the video ...

So am I ...

I am no angel and have had my ups and downs with the law over the years .. hell I tried to strangle my daughters boyfriend (he was the drunk who was responsible for her death)

Old testament eye for an eye sounds fair to me ...
