Should make this a sticky topic so those of us that hope to go to Cebu someday can easily find it.

Things will have changed by "someday" I'm afraid.

Besides, what is best is a matter of taste, and taste varies. For my tastes...

Best Pizza:  Shakey's Hand-Tossed Pizza (much better than the Shakey's you remember from twenty years ago in the US)

Best Restaurant (atmosphere and food): The Suite

Best High-End Buffet: Uno Restaurant at the Waterfront Hotel

Best Filipino Food:  The Lighthouse (Mango Avenue)...Kuya J's is good, but not as much variety

Best Double Cheeseburger: Burger King...double whopper with cheese (hey...I sad it's all a matter of taste)

Best Seared Tuna: The Buffet at Marco Polo

Best Beef Shwarma (basically like a Greek gyro):  Leylam's

Best Gelato:  Gelatissimo's

Best Drive: down my own street (after once escaping the crazy traffic here)...the drive across the Transcentral Highway is interesting and cooler than the city, but there's no place like home

Best hike:  Mount Manunggal (it almost always has its head in the clouds, so take a hat and waterproof jacket)

Best Mactan Resort:  Shangri-La (far superior to any other resort...but not cheap)

Best Place to Stay near Mango Avenue (if that's your thing): Eddie's Hotel

Best Place to See lots of Expats: Ayala Center Mall Terraces

Best Shallow Scuba Dive:  House Reef off Moalboal (although there are a lot of good dives)

Best View of Cebu: either Chateau de Busay or The Tops

Best Place for a Wedding Reception:  definitely Chateau de Busay

Best Place for a Catholic Wedding:  Cebu Metro Cathedral

Best Place for a Beach Wedding:  Plantation Bay Resort

How hard would it be for each member to make a 1 pager, with photos, of their favorites and publish it in a digital book. That way a person could take their kindle/tab/phone with them as they explored. May even be able to sell on Amazon.

Best Drive: Central Highway over the mountains. One of the coolest things around Cebu and most have never tried it.

On Google Earth it appears that there is a National Forest/Park in the mountains west of Cebu City. Is this the drive you are talking about?

Jeez aqd...even I figured that one out!!! :ROFLMAO:  :ROFLMAO:  :ROFLMAO:

You start the drive up the central highway through the mountains not far from SM. The road snakes up into the mountains when I drove it several months ago the clouds were passing over the road. Really beautiful mountains scenery and there are no Jeepnys or taxis.

Daddy

Are there a couple of expat pubs where I could meet some of you guys when I move there in spring? (I'm sure that they must have WiFi since you all always seem like you're online!)

Only if you are buying.   :yahoo:
