The Best of Cebu

Recommended Posts

There sure is a lot of non-Cebu things on this forum which is all good but I thought I would try and refocus on practical things which are helpful to those who live here or are coming here. The Best of Cebu is you place to put a few helpful tips like the best hardware store, the best restaurant, whatever.

My 3 are:

Best Pizza: S&R

Best Place to buy pirated videos: Colon

Best Cheap Beach: Santiago Bay, Camotes

Have fun.

I never wait in that long line. It is ridiculous. That's why I have my wife wait in it (thwap... ouch, that hurt babe).

To be honest I don't much care for driving here.  It's just too fraught with danger and stupidity.  I tend to concentrate to the exclusion of anything else, which means I don't see much of the country

I have yet to try the pizza at S & R, I refuse to wait that long.

but I do enjoy the thin Caldas pizza (as long as it isn't Hawaiian) also Lopenas is pretty good and delivers to the house

usually it crosses my mind when we roll up to checkout.

the line only has 15 people in it and the check out about 5 or 6 deep

I go to the line and she does the checkout, when she is done there are 13 people in front of me

Are there a couple of expat pubs where I could meet some of you guys when I move there in spring? (I'm sure that they must have WiFi since you all always seem like you're online!)

Quite nice to see positive things being said about our fair City, instead of the usual sad sacks endlessly complaining about the pollution, traffic clogged roads, unfriendly locals, unfriendly expats, sexpats, corruption etc etc.

Sorry if I left anything out.

But if you really don't see the positives, don't let the door bang your ass on the way out.   :cooking:  :morn:  :coffee:

How about sharing your besties

That way we will know where to go to find you

Definitely not stalking, just friendly following while incognito

Best Drive: Central Highway over the mountains. One of the coolest things around Cebu and most have never tried it.

To be honest I don't much care for driving here.  It's just too fraught with danger and stupidity.  I tend to concentrate to the exclusion of anything else, which means I don't see much of the countryside - but I stay alive!

I love taking the kids to the beach, so Moalboal is nice.  Kawasan Falls is lovely.  Plenty of cheap water resorts.  If the kids are happy, I am happy.

I enjoy people watching, so I don't mind the Malls, even the Immigration office is interesting.  I'm not much of a foodie, and bars are a bit old hat these days.  A nice sunset and a good book.
