I agree completely. Above anyone else I always hoped Alan would post on a topic as he was able to succinctly give an opinion which was based on knowledge, experience and wisdom. Alan's writing was alw

Stunned and saddened at the loss of a huge influence for good on the Forum.  A rationale respected voice restoring order, he will be much missed by us all.   I share Alan's love of steam, both model

What a shock to wake up to this morning. Somebody asked how old Alan was, and I don't know precisely, but I do know that he was there when dirt was invented. He will be missed sorely. He truly earned

Wow what a sad day.

I never knew him but I was always impressed with his gentlemanly demeanor on the forum. He knew how to be firm but somehow never offensive, which is IMO one mark of true intelligence and maturity. He was always on my short list of "LinC folk I'd like to meet" which makes it a little more sad for me.

Please send my best to the family Paul.

I didn't know Alan very well but I did enjoy reading his postings here.

The sudden passings are sometimes the hardest to cope with and I express my condolence and sympathy to Alan's family.

+Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let light perpetual shine upon him +

So sad to hear this.

I have never known Alan except through LinC where he was always a contributor worth reading.

RIP Alan.

Alan assisted in my introduction to a friend of his, who reside(s) (d)? on Bantayan Island several years ago. He was another guy who was into steam engines and the sort.

Another nice guy to know. If you feel like having a taste of Alan's knowledge, search for some of his posts. He was a hell of a guy.

I will miss him very, very much.
