10 lbs. fire extinguisher (ABC Type) In Cebu City

The company selling the extinguishers, in some cases, has been known to have family ties to the building inspectors. Nice side business with a captive customer base!

Likely true.. and didn't bother me.  It's just the way it is.  And the 2500 peso was what we had been led to believe and seemed reasonable.

In my case the fire extinguisher was REQUIRED prior to receiving an Occupancy Permit for my house.

I have often thought about, why is it ok a nett 11 kg gas bottle or any size to be stored right next to your gas range inside a house or a condo. To me it is just an accident...and a serious one waiting to happen.  If I ever build or buy here, the gas bottles will be stored and piped in from outside the living areas. Other than open air dk or bbq that is.

Agree..  but if you ever get a fire directly involving a gas canister, I'm not sure a fire extinguisher will help.

Maybe not but flame on gas line or a regulator can be put out with a right type fire extinguisher as well as a grease / oil fire on stove top or inside oven.

That's the main fire I would be concerned with.

When you say "right type"..  what do you mean (in PI context)

Get an ABC and you've got most any type fire you could expect to have in a home covered.
