Which is better? A "low frequency"& "high frequency" inverter?

I am looking at a bunch of different inverters and want to knows the pros and cons and differences of a "low frequency"& "high frequency" inverter. Thanks

Low Frequency Inverters (transformer based):

Pros:

Robust

Less components to fail

Mirrors reactive load across the windings

 

Cons:

Heavier

More expensive (up to 50% more)

Higher idle power consumption

Slightly less efficient

To add to what Mikala said Low frequency will be better for inductive loads like motors, but high frequency is more efficient.

 

Low frequency is "much" easier to repair.
