Would a 50hz generator work ok in the Philippines

I was chatting to another forum member on here & he told me he brought his generator with him when he moved & it's 50hz. He stated that he has no problems with it but in the long term would it be better to just sell my generator that I have in the UK & just buy one here. Any comments on this would be helpful, thanks.

Depends on what you run off it.  If it's ok with 50Hz (most things are), the gen is ok.  60Hz motors will run slower.

Motors and clocks would be most affected. 

 

I would suggest buying one locally, for the proper voltage and cycles needed in a given country.

yes clocks would have a problem. but most equipment comes with a label saying 50 or 60 hertz. meaning they will work in Europe or N.America
