Just wondering how many forum members' Filipina wives or GF's are actually working.  And no, taking care of you - even though it is a full time job unto itself, is not a job.  Nor, for the purposes of this poll, is being a mom.

She did when i met her. She was making a pretty decent wage about $1500-$2000 a month. Since she was working for one of my competitors at the time we thought it was a good idea for her to resign when we got serious. She wanted to go back to work after the baby was out of the newborn stage  and I was going to be the stay at home dad, but things recently changed.

I wasn't really sure how to answer this. My wife has an online business designing and creating custom bows and headbands for babies and girls. She can literally work as much or as little as she wants. Sometimes that means she is working more than forty hours a week, and sometimes she only works a few hours or not at all. It all depends on how much work she wants to accept and how many other things we have going on in our lives.

Before we got married my girlfriend (now my wife) worked for peanuts and long hours! After we got married, she doesn't work for peanuts anymore, because I give her a monthly allowance she's happy with and content to stay home just to take care of me and our home! Now that we're retired, same thing goes! We're both "Happy Campers"!

My wife was a school teacher in Cebu. When she came here to California, USA in 1999 she started as an elementary substitute teacher. In 2009 she finished her Master of Arts Degree in Special Education. Since then the schools have quit calling for substitutes and instead use the teachers that got laid off during the cut backs. These teachers "lay off" was just to send them home to sit there on full pay. They didn't like having to work as substitutes, but it was either that or REALLY get laid off. Quite a system, ha!!!

She is selling items now in Cebu that we shipped there and is also a Real Estate Agent in Cebu. She wants to keep teaching but the economy is against her. We are doing fine without her income but she gets antsy...

i clicked part time altho mine is supposed to be on call 24 hours like myself for our biz.

tonite is a typical example as it's almost 4 am and i just got back home from meeting her and the crew at IT park and the casino. seems she had a few too many cocktails so the crew called me out to finish the deals before she messed it up and got in trouble with her family.

maybe i should just adjust my sleeping hours and cover the nite shift myself and pretend to her family that she helps out during the day :)

No my wife does not have to, and besides it would interfere with us traveling and doing the many things we enjoy doing during my retirement years..

The results so far are somewhat surprising.

Over 65% work or contribute in some way.

This is contrary to the belief of many (overseas friends) that pinays are all looking for a meal ticket.

I must confess here that next year my partner (Pinay) will earn more than me.

I'm amazed how much everyone's wives/GFs make when working.

I've always heard that the pay is low here but some of you say your wives makes more than you do.

One post stated his wife use to make over 2 million peso a year.

From what I'm reading, some of you have wives/GFs that are among the smartest, most educated and highest paid women in the country.

Congratulation for marrying the cream of the crop.

To be clear here when using the term better half. How many really have a wife/gf that makes up anywhere near half (physically speaking of course) of the two of you?

In my case my wife would be about 1/4.  :biggrin_01:

Maybe 1/3 after we all ate out at Radisson Blu's "all you can eat" dinner buffet!

We really enjoyed that! They had some killer deserts!

OPS! Going off topic now! My bad!
