160 / 100 blood pressure the other day

Recommended Posts

Paul

The other day, I had to take the boss to the doctor. She was feeling pretty sick. Well, it was early morning, and I had neglected to take my blood pressure meds (Cardiosel 50mg and a 100mg aspirin every day) prior to leaving. When I got there, I started feeling bad myself. So, I asked them to take my blood pressure. 160 over 100 was the result! Man, I was nervous! I got the driver to take me back home right away, so I could take my meds.

Been putting off buying a blood pressure machine to check it. Finally bit the bullet and bought one. I figure $60 USD may help save my life. Now, I check my BP at least once per day.

Anyway, fast forward to today.

Just  checked it. 126 / 85. Feelin' good. :)

I have been getting more rest recently.

my last trip I left on 12/22 but had a dentist appt at 7am & dr's at 9am then off to airport.

my BP was 165/122 and my dr (Filipino) wasn't happy. gave me a LISINOPRIL-HCTZ 20/12.5MG TABLETS + 80mg aspirin daily.

got back after 2 1/2 weeks of R &R + plenty of exercise & walking, BP was 110/82, I told him to write me a prescription for the Philippines.

im not a dr but I think it was because of the stress of work & getting ready to leave for my trip............ either way I never felt bad at any time.

I only dream of being that low. With meds I am lucky to get down to 180/120. Without 230/160 is rather normal. I have in the past freaked out some ER doctors rather immensely.

Doctor told me a goal of 135/85 is good. I lost 30 pounds of weight here. Fluctuates between 126-140/81 without meds. I have a arm monitor. Usually work outside for 4 hours every morning. Actually looking forward to sweating more, to lose more weight. I want to lose another 30 pounds to get to 200 weight. Lose the weight guys, it will lower pressure.

I always have a meter at home, so I just took mine 122/68 and 124/68 this morning on 10mg of Enalapril daily in the AM and that seems to work best for me.

Shadow your blood pressure would scare the heck out of me.

My sister was something like 250/180 when they put her on BP meds.

I'm lucky. I'm way over weight, but still have BP of around 120/70.

When I was in the hospital here with GBS, my BP was 130/80 the doctor freaked out and put me on meds.

I think they use different criteria here than in the USA.

I take a Cialis every other day or so and my BP runs around 110/70 but when I go a few days without taking any the BP gets up to 130/90, and my GF likes it too.

Cialis can slightly lower blood pressure. This is not a problem for most men, but Cialis' effect on blood pressure is exaggerated if the Cialis is taken with a nitrate drug

My BP has always been pretty abnormal. When I was 28 I was in a serious motorcycle accident during a motocross race. At that time my weight was about 160 or so, nothing out of the ordinary, but I remember being in the ER unable to speak, while everyone was freaking out about my blood pressure. If I could have spoken, I could have assured them that 220/160 was not abnormal for me. Both my parents had astronomically high blood pressure, yet my Mother lived to 75, and my father to 84. They both started medicating in their early 50's, as did I. I now weigh around 220. With meds, mine stays around 185/120, and I am very much noticeably calmer than without. Without, it stays around 230/180. A seldom spoken advantage, I am almost NEVER cold!

Shadow, maybe you should wear a medical bracelet with that marked on it.

VA gave me a BP monitor - part of the training cautioned that most people do it wrong and get erroneous readings. High / low - follow the instructions. My wife tried mine and just using it raised her BP.

Last time I was in for quarterly checkup - they checked BP as soon as I got into room - high - nurse said what did you just do? Ran into building, was late. waited 1 minute - back to normal.

What does freak them out is that my resting heart rate at 66 =   60 / 65 which is good  - my working heart rate can approach 200 - stage 5 incline treadmill - which is not

Probably due to being anxious, stress etc.....BP goes up and down all the time....probably even higher than what it was when you had it checked in the Drs office.
