What is your current electric rate, where you live?

Mikala

Here's my latest VECo electric bill (2017/05/28). Odd that it's only for 22 days... I run a 2 HP inverter A/C unit 14 hours a day, a 1 HP inverter A/C unit 4-6 hours a day, 20 cu. ft inverter refrigerator 24 hours a day, 65 inch LCD TV maybe 10 hours a day, laptop computer about 12 hours a day, fans 24 hours a day, and an all electric kitchen.

This is for a 65 sq. meter condo in Lahug (near Cebu Ayala mall).

I don't have a bill handy to see what the KWH rate is.  I seem to remember that it is reasonable when I looked at it sometime back.  My complaint about the cost here, being my bill hovers right around 9000 php a month is all the added charges.  Those are what are ridiculous.

You might be right  - I had a previous charge  I paid -  484 - with last payment in Feb this year - I'll know more at end of this month

With that added comes to the 11 you stated

Wasn't too concerned - even 1,200 is less than $25.

Yeah Veco bill.       p 527.45 / 61kwh

I believe VECO has a sliding scale and the less you use, the lower your rate.  My rate is about 10.7 to 10.9 with usage 230 to 280KWH.  I had a couple months in early 2015 over 400KWH and the rate was about 11.5.  This last March my usage due to the short cycle was 215KWH and the rate under 10.

We pay about P12 PKWH. It is so low due to the 192 MW geothermal power plant just up the hill.

Just got our bill for the past 90 days: Consumption was 4367KW (48.53 per day) and a total cost of Au$761.78 including fees and GST. That works out to be Au$0.1744 cents per Kilowatt.  Pretty cheap for what it does IMO

What is System Loss Charges ??

It is listed under Generation & Transmission not distribution

Transmission is the high voltage transmission see picture bellow

I do think that no one is tapping into the high voltage lines

Is it a way for them to ensure no loss from what they send out? So they charge for everything that leaves ..

Even if some of it is unmetered , how do street lights and traffic lights get metered etc, etc......

Take a look at the picture below

Veco has done a lot to prevent stealing electricity

with the meters high on masts it is only possible to steal from each other

At Hawaii Electric, we had an agreement with the state, county and city to charge a set amount per month for each street light or traffic light that was hooked up. Every now and then, we'd revisit the calculated amount to increase it as costs went up.

Of course we, the utility, knew about each street light and such, because we'd be contacted to connect it.
