It actually looks closer than that and has been raining here in the Liloan area for nearly two days now.

GFS does not have this going anywhere near land in its current model.  It has in hovering 500kms off the coast for a few days then heading north east away from Philippines.  In any event the winds are barely topping Tropical Storm levels on the models moving to C1 strength as it moves away.

This is the 288hr model when at the closest to Philippines

Yeh another HAARP burst should do it. Hopefully they already got what they wanted with all the warships in the South Pacific and they don't need another 'natural disaster' to justify sending more machines of war.

Nothing to worry about.

Well, except for irresponsible users of social media.

it is actually about 5 guys.  The main one is based in Japan where he works for NHK news weather.  Agree though, one of the best places for accurate weather info.

This is what they posted this morning:

Remember that on Facebook there are plenty of people who have no meteorological expertise yet believe they can forecast. Thus if you see any post or rumors about a Super Typhoon Hitting the Philippines next week it is false. From what I have found it originated from a heavily trafficked facebook page that has caused mass confusion and panic in the past pertaining to weather. As always if there is something that extreme coming we we will let you know.

Why not?

My wife received the same text message about 5 times in the last 4-5 years telling her that Metro Mandaue has collapsed and killed dozens of people.

I do believe this forecaster, the last one was out long before it hit and as accurate as was humanly possible.

Don't forget there is profit in confusion. Why do you think these rumors start?

SuperTyphoonAgaton still trending on twitter... so sad.

Meanwhile, this is looking more and more like an extra tropical system, meaning it will be wet and cold.  Looks like it will move across visayas, stall around Palawan, then move back across Manila.  Probably not much in way of winds, but quite a bit of rain...
