He wrote it, then retracted it. Now you say he should stand by it but tell him why he was wrong to say it? He retracted it, so chill. We all can speak/write a little hastily. Who hasn't misspoken and

Right, like the mayor's wife and 25 year old relative... not to mention the the 18 month old baby that they murdered... I am sure the baby was abusing the power that the mayor must have given him.

it was not my intention to "flame" as i do very very carefully word and monitor what i do post. as i truly like  and enjoy this forum unlike those others that attack posters ,with no sense of forum

It is sad to see anyone killed, especially at this time of year.

(Plus innocent bystanders injured.,)

It is also sad, but quite understandable, that as soon as anyone in politics is killed, peoples thoughts immediately go to "they were probably corrupt".

What a terrible international reputation for a country to have.

wow....are you suggesting Vigilante justice?

I would suggest that the courts do the role they have to bring about fair justice.

since this is the Philippines, sometimes the only court or justice is "vigilante" ,

is it wrong? to 1st world beliefs it is wrong.

to the ones who live here ...sometimes this is the only justice they can have

the perpetrators of such acts should have all the facts and evidence before they do what they do.

according to what happens in davao. they are pretty successful w/ a low margin of error

if my post "offends" i retrack what i said on this one person and this person only.

Why?  You wrote it so you ought to stand by it.  Nobody has the right not to be offended.  It ain't in any constitution.  So go ahead and offend, with or without purpose.

However, you said, "now lets only hope that these men on motorcycles will continue to clean up those who abuse their position of trust".

That is what I take issue with.  It's called the rule of law.

Question:  Who are the ones playing God and court and police that have this absolute authority of which you wrote?  How about people who are just obnoxious but haven't been voted in by the local populous?  My landlord pisses me off sometimes.  I thought I could trust him, once.

And who recompenses the family of the poor dolt who accidentally gets in the way of the bullet that was meant for an elected official?

I don't like corruption as much as the next guy, but there isn't anybody on the planet that has the authority to terminate a life without due process.

Yes this is very disturbing. Considering they have this useless checkpoint going in. Now I suppose they will implement another checkpoint going out.

This silly checkpoint going in sometimes asks me to open my glove compartment. Not sure what the logic is there. Gun check doesnt even make sense because you are allowed to bring a gun past that point so you can check it in at the PNP courtesy desk.

I was at the airport earlier this evening and there were PNP AV Sec guys at the drive thru checkpoint where there are normally none. At least Ive never seen them. And there was a visible presence outside of T2. Normally you might see one sat around near the first screening at the front door. Sometimes with his eyes open. When I flew to Cebu last week I only saw one PNP uniformed officer and he did NOT have a firearm in his holster. I notice things like this.

They make it very easy. There is a convenient courtesy desk to check your handgun, then avoid any long line to get inside because you get escorted to the airline cashier where you pay the airline handling fee, then you wait for the PNP to come back with your claim stub. Upon arriving at your destination you simply present your claim stub, get.your firearm handed to you and even put one in the chamber if you like then wander off.

Politicians should also be out of airports.

Seriously, there has to be a better way for the politicians here to travel without them having to be left out in the open with the regular citizenry.

Not so much for the safety of the politicians, but the lives of the innocent who can and do end up as casualties in these political wars.

My wife's first cousin is the Mayor of a pretty large city here in metro Manila, aka NCR. She hasn't been shot at. She hasn't had a hand grenade thrown at her car. IN fact, she doesn't have a bunch of PNP goons running around when she gets out of her car. From my observation she works her ass off. But I don't know much, I'm just a silly foreigner who does what he is told.

Has anyone seen the video of the recent Mayor Binay incident? The one where they try to cut through a subdivision here in NCR and get turned away and Binay has the guards "arrested" (allegedly they were just detained) for doing their job? Just reference: "binary dasmarinas" on youtube and you will find it.

People were outraged over this.

If everyone's vote is counted, and if the people who are elected and go against the grain get assassinated, who will run for office?

What's sad is when I first read the title I thought it said German Shoots Town Mayor and I thought 'finally we're fighting back!' ;)

What kind of christmas would it be without political assinations and payback?

One of the comments I read about the shooting was telling. It said it was a good thing no foreigners were involved as it would be international news asap. From this I gather that it is OK to shoot as many Filipinos as you like, just don't involve foreigners and disrupt the tourist trade.

That just goes without saying :)
