It is on both sides.  The serious girls don't want to play games and be used by some dreamer in his mom's basement.  The scammers want their payday.    On the guy's side 80-90% of guys online are mar

Play a little harder to get?

It's like speed fishing. Get the foreigners to bite quickly and then reel 'em in. I suppose maybe it is a bit of desperation on the part of someone who sees marriage to a foreigner as "making it" in l

just rent--- its cheaper and less hassle

You don't pay them for sex--you pay them to GO AWAY :ROFLMAO:

What exactly is meant by "Fuente", as mentioned many times in this thread..? Are we talking night spots other than girlie bars?

Just curious, as I am new in town and don't know much about the night life (yet)....

I'm surprised no one told you yet shows how interesting moving fast is.

Its the large roundabout at the end of Osmena blvd called Fuente Osmena Circle where you can find Robinson Mall, not far from Chung Hua Hospital and Crown Regency, lots of beggars and hasslers there along with many hustlers too who accost you agressively as you walk from one place to another.

That's done it. Now when we leave the hotel to go for lunch the sexpats outside will be tenfold! Just here as a typhoon refugee for a while. But the cialis salesman are beginning to piss me off. Good thing is no brownouts by Chong Hua up to now. Luckily one brownout came as I stood up from the dentist's chair and not when I was in it! Edited by hyaku

I know guys I was with in the military that married girls within weeks of knowing them.  American, Italian, filipina, korean girls.  Some lasted a few weeks others are still together.  People forget both sides have different wants and needs.  I also know people who dated for a decade then got married.  They divorced within months because that piece of paper changed their perspective.

fuente is also lumped together with "mango" as mango ave (gen. maxilom blvd) starts at the circle. the slang term "fuente" pretty much covers the circle, ramos area and the silver dollar down to the pokpok bars and prolly up to el gecko, as my wife and her entourage of misfits include those places when they say they are "heading out to fuente"

For Real

If you find one online then they most likely do have a job.. and the job of chasing down old men is great work if you can get it. How would you like to be on your feet for 200 pesos a day when you can be on your back with ever increasing returns. The race to the alter for some enables the opportunity to only have to service one guy instead of 12.

Even servicing one will decline if they think they can get away with it.

The net is just a tool, it is up to the user to define how it's used.  Is a guy using it like a chainsaw to get laid as often as possible and damn the hopes and dreams of the girls?  Using it with precision to screen out the scammers?

Are the girls online any less or more of scammers than the western girl who will rub her boobs on your arm and flirt to get a free drink or meal?

+1. Not only is there the cultural differences and the fact that they want you to sign on the dotted line quickly. but let's not forget that it was this way in Western culture not that long ago. My dad was 21 and mom 19 when the married; obviously they hadn't gone together for years nor was there any living together back then. I met my wife (online) when she was 23 and we married when she was 25. She genuinely thought she was nearly too old for marriage. In the West a 25 year old girl wants to party, work (a little) and screw as many guys as she can, then marry at 35 just in time to have kids. Not so in PI.

I chatted with many younger women online who really wanted to be married - and not just for the cash. It's a different perspective. A 21 year old Filipina (whether good or bad) thinks she is ready - and now. A 21 year old American girl thinks she is ready also - to get drunk and laid.

when you meet the parents take a good look at them, are they fat, skinny, not so attractive?why?because this is what your girl will resemble in later years.

Not really. A new environment and lifestyle can also produce a big change in them for better or worse. In the Philippines they might go to a fast food place like JoliBees once in awhile on a special occasion. Once you get back to the US she can pig out everyday at McDonalds. Or she can join a health spa and workout everyday. Edited by tomaw

It's not only the young ones who're eager to get a commitment.

When I was online I stuck to over 35 - except for a few in their 20's who did just want to chat (practice American English) after I explained I wasn't interested. Joked that I didn't wanted another heart attack.

The older ones know they're competing with those 18 to 25 year olds.  I have a difficult time contemplating being with someone whom I've been asleep longer than they've been alive.

One who was a professor at the university in Manila, 50 yrs old, (still 16 years younger than me) offered to send me my airfare if I'd agree to live with her.I asked if she was that lonely, she explained she was tired of being taken advantage of by locals for her money and that she just wanted respect, affection and companionship, even  said didn't mind if I had GF's on the side (not sure about that one).

So money and security are not the only driving factors for the speed relationships.

3 months is not bad, I've just been through all that in 9 days to be precise. But she is a 34 year old business owner and manager who employs 9 people, has her own fully paid house and car parked in front. So it's not only the poor uneducated ones. Oh she is Thai not Filipina. Since we met she kept coming to my place every day. Like after 9 days I feel like we've been together for 10 years. Very scary.

Only you know how you feel about her and hopefully how she feels about you. But from what you told us so far she sounds like a winner!

I think older and 'established' is a great way to go.

They'll love you and there ain't a damn thing you can do about it.

Love you to the point where you're allowed to be free to do what makes you happy.

It blows my mind.  No married person I knew ever had that much freedom/responsibility.

The couples I knew fought for days over the toilet seat and toothpaste tube.

The Filipina will too...if that's what you want.

But there are still those who practice the ancient art of tampo.

Hmm, I know the place but as far as i have seen, there is nothing but beggars, hookers and scammers around there.. Give or take a puppy.

Not my idea of a fun night out...

Sorry for borrowing the thread for some local info.
