Posted by: Shelly Cooper (Is this story for real??? You be the judge!) This story reportedly comes to us from the Amazon, where a crew member from an oil rig went out and took a nap during the middle of his shift. Apparently, he had a reputation for doing this sort of thing, so when he didn’t show up for a while, no one thought anything about it. Until it started getting late. A quick examination of the oil rig turned up nothing, so a search party was mounted. It wasn’t long before workers came upon a python that had gotten stuck trying to go through a hole in a log. It wasn’t uncommon in that area for pythons to eat large prey, but something about this one gave the workers an uneasy feeling. They captured the python and brought it back to the base camp. The following photos show what they found. Hey, guys — come check out this snake! Uh-oh… this doesn’t look good… Better cut it open to see what’s inside. And inside the snake, they found… The Moral of the Story: Don’t go to sleep on the job! tom_shor 1,202
Florida is infested with Pythons. Stomach contends of large captured snakes have revealed the remains of 7 to 9 foot alligators. If one of these can lunch on an alligator they could certainly take a man.

Not really! But “I got swallowed in traffic” tops “I got stuck in traffic.” The truth is this python swallowed a pregnant ewe in the village of Kampung Jabor, about 124 miles east of Kuala Lumpur. The six-metre reptile weighed 198.5 lbs and was too heavy to move, making it easy for firemen to capture it, said a local daily newspaper. (Picture taken September 5, 2006. MALAYSIA.) spydoo 2,044
.... Some other stories about BIG Snakes:- http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/man-buys-python-snake-drunken-1786293 The photo in this story are of the same man and snake as in this story (by a more reputable newspaper, I believe): http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/photos-second-willenhall-man-sentenced-3012516. I would have to assume the photos were stolen and the story made up. I'm feeling less and less scared of being eaten by a boa constrictor as this thread progresses.
Paul 55,114
I'm feeling less and less scared of being eaten by a boa constrictor as this thread progresses. Are you in the habit of getting drunk, and passing out in areas where these snakes are known to be? If not, I wouldn't concern myself too much with it, either.

I would have to assume the photos were stolen and the story made up. I'm feeling less and less scared of being eaten by a boa constrictor as this thread progresses. I never claimed any of these reported stories about BIG snakes were true! This one you quoted - http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/photos-second-willenhall-man-sentenced-3012516. He woke up the next morning to discover the African rock python - called Bruce - rearing up at his mate who was sleeping on the sofa Monster hangover: Boozed-up Matthews woke to find a python in his roomBPM A boozy reveller suffered a real hangover from hell when he woke up after a drinking session to discover he had bought a 10ft stolen python. Dwayne Matthews agreed to buy the pinched monster snake off a traveller during a drunken night with pals. But he woke up the next morning to discover the African rock python - called Bruce - rearing up at his mate who was sleeping on the sofa. Matthews’ solicitor described the bizarre incident as “like a sub-plot from a Guy Ritchie film”. After finding the reptile trying to eat his pal, the shocked 29-year-old grabbed a duvet and threw it over the beast. Matthews, from Coventry, was arrested after trying to palm the 14kg python off on a reptile shop. He was handed a suspended eight-week prison sentence after admitting receiving stolen goods. The drama began on January 11 when a traveller offered to sell the snake to Matthews and his drunken pals. His solicitor, Richard Baker, told magistrates in Coventry that the group were all the worse for wear. Man eater: The 10ft, 14kg python, BruceBPM “In his wisdom, and no doubt egged on by his inebriated friends, he decided it would be a good idea to buy it and sell it,” he said. “The next morning he realised it hadn’t been such a good idea. “He got up to find one of his friends asleep on the sofa and this snake rearing up at him in an S-shape, its jaws open like a cobra. “Instead of running out of the house, as some would have done, and leaving his friend to his fate, he apprehended this snake. “He ran upstairs, got a quilt and thew it over the snake to subdue it and put it in a tank. It was like a sub-plot from a Guy Ritchie film. The python was stolen with eight others from an outhouse in Coventry in January. Police told pet shops about the raid and the next day a local reptile store got a call from Matthews asking if they wanted to buy a snake. Mr Baker said: “He didn’t decide to get rid of it by dumping it in a bin, he was doing the best he could to remedy the situation.” Sentencing him, magistrates said: “This was a bit of a foolhardy enterprise.” He was also told to pay £85 costs and an £80 victim surcharge. 10 ft long African Rock Snake called Bruce, now back at home with his owner David ChanceBPM The python, called Bruce, was later reunited with his owner. African rock snakes, the world’s third largest snake, are constrictors which attack animals as big as crocodiles and antelopes. They suffocate them in their coils before swallowing them whole. A 13-year-old boy was eaten in Uganda in 1951 but the python was later forced to disgorge the body. In 1973, the body of a Portuguese soldier was found in the stomach of a python, and in 1979 a 15ft specimen killed another 13-year-old boy. In Illinois, USA, in 1999 a three-year-old boy was suffocated in his sleep by a 7.5ft rock python. And in 2009 a Kenyan farmer was attacked and dragged up a tree. * How our sister website the Coventry Evening Telegraph is reporting the story. is NOT the same snake as any others in this Thread. http://www.panama-guide.com/article.php/20130221185332676 is the same Photo as the one the OP presented. Sven 1,136
Bad things can happen if you pass out in India. One local guy had his kidneys removed and sold. Not one but both... He lasted only a few days after that. I know the story because I'm involved with sponsoring education for his son.
