Homeowners Insurance in Cebu

Recommended Posts

Slayer

The earthquake got me concerned, but unfortunately my wife doesn't trust any homeowners insurance that she is aware of.  Do any of you know of a reputable company that would actually pay if you filed a claim?  It seems many believe they never pay so they go without insurance...seems crazy to lose all your investment in a home with a single event.  Please consider that I am talking about a home that is paid off, not financed.

I don't think there are any who pay out on claims.Their only there to collect premiums.

Yes Slayer I am wondering the same thing myself, my wife tells me that the BPI bank offers insurance so maybe they would be ok, I am sure it is not BPI that actually supplies the insurance but a large insurance company but if the bank uses them it is most likely they are reputable.

A bank would be the perfect institution to ask, as they deal with insurance companies on mortgaged properties all the time.

Most policies I've ever seen worldwide tend to exclude "acts of God", so if you do manage to find a company here offering insurance I'd be sure to check they didn't have that clause too

Likewise, my house insurance through Prudential Guarentee, organised by BDO insurance brokers cost 4500 a year, and covers all acts of god including earthquakes, typhoons, flooding, lightening strikes, volcanic eruptions, civil disorder/riots/terrorism, airplane crash etc.  Insured to full appraisal value (much higher than outstanding loan amount).

Whether they pay out or not I couldn't tell...

As long as the earthquake is not caused by a pre-existing fault-line you might get some payout......

My take on this is;  Never buy property to the limits of my means.  To self-insure.   Hell, I may not even do that - just rent. If this country really turns to sh%t someday, we just walk... or run.  Cut our few losses.

I actually thought about that as I was typing the post... nope, not included.  Neither is an Alien invasion.  I'm f***ed if ET comes to visit...

Actually my current insurance agency specialises in meteorite insurance. We offer full cover to anybody anywere on the planet and even those who are off the planet. Best of all we do no checks for pre-existing meteorite prone areas. So if your keen to go ahead with it I will be in Cebu this Friday and I would be happy to drop around and unload you of a very inexpensive premium (I also accept monthly repayments).

I take cash, all major credit cards, cash, direct depost and have even been known to accept Mango Ave gift vouchers as currency, oh and cash, I take cash .

PM if your serious, I am...

No thanks, the last time you landed here your space ship here, you scared the neighbors too much.

We now have a no space ship/parking sign at each end of town.

It sits right under the "No White Ladies Allowed" sign.
