Why would anyone want to live in Cebu after reading this forum?

Recommended Posts

We live in Cebu City and in south Florida yearly so I can say for sure that most items are much less expensive in Florida than Cebu with the big exception of labor related items and on top of that Florida is clean and organized and even more important the air is clean.

Electric is less than half the cost in Florida than Cebu and with COSTCO, Super Walmart's, Super Targets and all the other great places to shop for food and other household needs, Florida is way less expensive on almost all of life's necessities, so I think Tim and his wife are shopping in the wrong stores, or they are still thinking in pesos when they look at prices which are in dollars, or the area they live in does not have the discount store competition that we have in south Florida.

Homes and condos are much less in Florida too, a friend just bought a 2/2 condo for $43,000 and I have seen 1/1 units selling for as little as $17,000. House prices are all over the place and all prices seem to be going up quickly in recent months but deals are still out there if a person keeps their eyes open and jumps on them when they appear.

As for a great realty site to use, I like yellowkeyrealty.com and then just type in the zip code or neighborhood to search for what is available there. HERE us what is available in New Port Richey and HERE is one condo house that has a contract on it for $74,900 but I bet that it will not be online much longer.

But Florida is not Cebu except the weather is basically the same but there is no where near as many lovely young ladies as I see all the time in Cebu.

I would.   I noticed much more than the girls.   Maybe because I never came to the Philippines to find a girl and did not know about the bikini bars etc before my first trip. I just came for a hol

In my mind, I think more people DO end up visiting the Philippines due to the information offered on this forum. I feel this, because they don't get smoke blown up their asses when they come to this f

The forums members tell the good, the bad and the ugly of living in the Philippines so if anyone who has not been to the Philippines reads the bad stuff and knows that they do not have the temperament

$75k for a median house in Florida???!!! If you are right we may be moving soon! I agree with you on the seafood. I don't think she spent much time looking. Not sure what she's talking about when she says everything else is double the price of Cebu's prices. Ideally I would like to have a house in both Cebu and the US. spending six months in each. While in the U.S. I'd like to spend time working in my previous profession as a realtor. If I can sell just one house a year that will take care of our plane tickets going back and forth. I'd also have social security to live on. I also want the Cebu house to be completely built and paid for before even thinking of moving there. Thanks for the info on the price of houses in Newport Richey Florida! We were thinking of Las Vegas but with Florida being that cheap we may just make it one of our new homes!

walk slow.... check weather .... how much is homeowners insurance... sales tax.. etc etc ....property tax... all factors in finding just the right place to call home

A pharmacist tells me what they sell is the real stuff cut into smaller doses. I have never needed it but did try some once on a 'recreational' basis.

Why does everyone who talks about Viagra say that they don't need it?  Never mind, I know why.

After a bottle of Glenlivet, I have to tell you that viagra wouldn't cut it for me - it would take scaffolding just to get me to my feet!

Nothing would work from the neck down.   :yahoo:

Well, unlike many guys here, I am not so stupid to confuse prostitution with a relationship, if that's what you mean.

I have the answer! Ladies, girls, women, booze, cheap cost of living, friendly smiling people ... anyone wants to carry one? I'm trying to get drunk too now.

There are lots of young professionals nowadays in Cebu. I'm quite surprised, many of them work in the  IT, callcentre -outsourcing or education industry. The cheap cost of living and US$ income provides them a great lifestyle. Same for me, as I work and make a decent revenue I can live a very good life anywhere in the Philippines without worrying too much about bills and savings... while on the other hand back in Europe i'd just be living a very average existence, for real-estate investments and risky business behaviour I'd just go to other countries where i'd feel more safe, if I really feel the need to do so.

To the older folks, refer to the post above.

As one of the older folk, what I will have here would be ok if I didn't want to do anything, there can do want I want and with someone who doesn't want to eat evening meal at 4, go to sleep at 7, and get up at 5, (actually 8, 9, 11, 2, 4, 5)

Prostitution, mistress, companion, house keeper with benefits, I really don't care.

All that matters is that I'm satisfied.

When time comes, can come back if not emotionally attached to anyone and find a Miami Mamma with house her husband left her, like I'm doing for mine.

Trying?  Hell, I always thought it was too easy to get drunk. Not getting drunk was the hard part.

For Real

We all know this is the nature of the Internet. Choose any topic and there's a forum. Go to that forum and some posters wear rose colored glasses, others wear shit colored glasses. If you hang out at the forum long enough you will figure out who's views of life match yours and you will tend to latch on to their postings and solicit their opinions.

hang around even longer than enough you will see the rose colour turn to shit colour (and then hopefully back to neutral). The lenses one wears unawares in life is a cyclic phenonemon for the blessed.

The rosies remind me of my first visits and that's good to get in touch with. All rosies that actually get amongst it and live in the RP do turn toward the brown rather quickly and either leave, piss and moan (not able to afford to leave) and the rest adapt. Truth is I have had my share of brown coloured posts and i have seen thousands of other brown posts that are factually correct...these post are just as valuable for the education available.

Too rosie and you miss the lesson and too brown you miss out on a life and may spoil others peace in the process - but the middle ground is fertile.
