Where to buy good margarine

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know where to buy margarine such as Imperial or Becel in Cebu? I'd also like to find some decent white bread. Takes in advance.

I don't eat margarine, but SM supermarkets seem to have a pretty wide selection. I don't know if they have the particular brands you are looking for. The only local brand of bread we eat is Gardenia. We seldom buy white bread (we prefer wheat bread), but it is pretty good. Other than that, about your only alternatives for decent bread are French Bakers and Borussia.

not even flies will touch Margarine...what wrong with butter?

I have found some nice sour dough....but white bread in the supermarket here is absolutely worthless...wonderbread is bad enough back home.

Sorry guess i didn't really help you...consider this an opinion post.

Gardenia brand bread is very good. Both their white and wheat breads apparently use western recipes. Since the trans fat revelations I now just use butter. That said, Robinson's usually has a decent selection of margarine.

Greetings! The closes thing to US avarage margrine I have found in last 8 years is Anchor spreadeble.

Mactan Bakery has wheat, and white that are similar to US.

Butter is good for some people, but is slow death for others.

Queensland.  It's the cheapest and quite acceptable for eating and cooking.

Butter vs Margarine is a bit like Coke vs Diet Coke.

You want the good fats/sugar or the processed chemicals?

Both not ideal obviously.

I was always a margarine man, but now stick with butter.

I didn't even know I pronounced 'margarine' wrong until I moved here.

Yet another indictment of the failed American educational system.

I find this stuff to be half the price of butter and taste very similar to it.  Not sure what stores you will find it in but I sure recommend it.

Never too late - you could enroll as a mature student. :tease:
