SkyMan 23,717
No place is perfect so there are always things one can find to complain about, perhaps to warn others or maybe just to tell someone else as kind of a misery loves company thing. The complaints may seem to be many but since a thing that annoys you is easier to remember than a thing that you like, people tend to post about the annoyances more than the pleasantries. The answer to your question is really your question in reverse in most cases. "If you don't like it here, why would you stay?" And the answer is that we must like it here because we stay. There are some exceptions with people that for whatever reason have to stay and would leave if they could. Those people tend to be more negative and probably party because they feel trapped here.

Popular Post Boss Ross 117
Have seen a lot or negativity against philippines Being posted here Scammers women cheating ang among other things Philipines this and that But yet your still there Makes me wonder why Is it because your money goes a long way Because now you can live like a king Maids and all Really makes me wonder why Originally from Minnesota, very tired of the snow and cold. Any time I think it might be too humid/hot here I just think of -20 degrees F and the weather here seems GREAT! In my experience there did not seem to be any traditional family oriented women left in the US that were to my liking. I knew from seeing other filipino wives of past friends that these women had values like my grandparents, so I went and found me one. After 35 hard working years in the police field I was still making mortgage payments and not getting ahead or saving much. An opportunity showed itself, so I cashed in everything, sold everything, and moved to the Philippines. I retired 12 years early, we own our home and everything in it, and can cofortably live off our savings and the pensions I earned, WITHOUT ever working again! We have a traditional supportive family all around us, and we feel wanted and a part of it. We look out for each other. In my experience in the states, most people are looking out for theirselves over their family members. Do I live like a King? No, but we live comfortably. We do not need to work and can relax and enjoy life while we are still young and healthy. All the negatives you have read that people complain about do happen here, just like in the states or most other places. For some strange reason people just seem to NEED to complain about something or else they are not happy. It is a bit like you needing to ask this question. Now you have at least one persons answer why. There are many things I miss about the states but from here I can see there are even many more things going on there that I definately DO NOT miss! But that is another story. Ah, another day in Paradise!

There are things I don't like about the Philippines. There are things I absolutely love about the Philippines. I'm sure that, given enough time there, you would find both feelings about many things as well.
cebubird 5,391
Every time my wife and I get into a serious conversation about leaving, and as much as we(me especially)might want to leave, I read/hear some more of the insane politically correct crap in the US, or some silly insignificant county judge blocking some important issue because there are so damn many of them with ABSOLUTELY NO common sense, and just eat up with liberal political correctness---makes me think---HUH! DUH! Why in the world would I want to go back to that silliness. Detroit-California--others PERFECT example of welfare states/cities gone amuck because of liberal/socialist policies. Even after a night like last night when I had to close all the windows in our bedroom and turn on a/c to try and drown out the THUMP THUMP THUMP of some ignorant assholes with typical no regard for neighbors by turning their amplifiers up to earthquake shaking levels--going back there still doesn't seem like such a grand idea. When my government goes bankrupt and I no longer have SS or VA, at least here we have a pretty nice home that is ALL paid for, so I guess what it really boils down to, is that even tho we could save in a few months, the money we need to go and start over, we are probably better off here-or stuck here.

johnormoc 533
Hilyfe this forum is for sharing information about the Philippines both good and bad. There are plenty of both on here. It also provides a means for many to vent their frustrations about a society where most foreigners are at some time in their stay here, marginalized and taken advantage of because of their skin color. You may not have that experience since you can blend in with the locals so you're luckier than most. Would you really want this forum to be everyone all cheery and high fiving each other about how "swell" the Philippiines is and it's all rainbows and unicorns? No...forums aren't for that. And besides, no matter where you go in this world there will be problems and issues people need to be made aware of. For example, I lived in Hawaii for 6 years during my Navy years and loved many things about it. But it was also a very racist society especially when you got outside of the touristy areas and the fake "Aloha smiles". Many locals just don't like the Haoles. I grew up in the deep south, traveled all over the world and the only place I was ever racially attacked because of my skin was in Hawaii. But you probably also don't have that experience as you can blend in there as well. Shit dude....you really ARE lucky. lol.

Headed that way 1,294
Hey, you don't read negative things about the Philippines from me. Although I have visited only twice I have three employees and a shop there and dealt with the mess that is the government to set things up. As far as the people, I love em. Not all of them for sure but most treat you as well as you treat them. My plan is to eventually live there part time and shuttle back and forth, produce in the Philippines, sell in the U.S.. Just working on setting all the bits and pieces up to make things work.
