shadow 18,483
I can understand the frustration. Me too. We have had a couple of clients that were given bloody hell by the CFO, but most seem to have no problems at all. There sometimes doesn't seem to be any rhyme nor reason to it.

Nangulo 1,093
As I understand your attachment, you two aren't married and are only traveling on holiday. She doesn't need a CFO as a tourist to an ASEAN nation. I did the same thing. GF and I were traveling together, passports different, last names different and I escorted her to Hong Kong. I had to fill out financial responsibility forms for her as a requirement for the HK gov't, but immigration never asked her for a CFO because it's not required. We're not married and she's not emigrating. The only times a CFO is required is when a married Filipina gets her passport changed from her maiden name to her (foreigner) married name, and/or when a Filipina travels abroad for the purpose of emigrating, whether married yet, or not. You can still pursue the CFO, but you can also take your gal on holiday without it, providing you have different last names and aren't married.
ozboy 6,594
Sorry..its not me Nang...it was posted on Australia Forum which is about getting visas etc....The Phillipines has the biggest representation on it and seeing im in the process of taking my wife home, I read a lot on there... Our CFO seminar here in Cebu, besides the long hours was absolutely no problem....I posted it as an unusual topic that maybe its the first time someone actually took legal action...its a current case as when I posted... Theoretically, no. CFO is intended for those Filipinos who are immigrating.

No, you don't need a CFO. I did this last year in July. Took the GF to Hong Kong on a brand-new (for her) passport. Hers was Philippine, mine US. We're not married. I had copies of hotel reservations plus return tickets. Had to fill out 2 forms regarding financial responsibility for the HK gov't. We left, came back, no other issues. AB2000 416
I took my fiancée to Bali with no issues when leaving, and her recent CFO seminar was easy peasy....but others can have problems. From my casual observation at the immigration forums, it seems the ones who have more hassles at the CFO tend to be introverted/not sure of themselves. The CFO interviewer senses weakness in an answer, then bombards them with more questions related to that topic. Similar to a thesis defense.
