Man, you got screwed.  I think I would have abandoned the shipment rather than pay the 6000.

items $ 186, shipping $40, so $226 and I should have abandoned it?

Plus, I need them to sleep.

Well, lets see. 6000 import tax is 120 plus 40 shipping, thats 160.  You said the goods were 2 for 14 dollars and you bought 14, so 7 times 14 equals $98, for the goods.

It looks like you paid $160 above and beyond the cost of the goods to receive your nostril openers.  The import tax alone is more than the cost of the goods.  If you gotta have them, I guess you have no choice, but certainly a lesson learned.

Thanks, a very interesting thread. I did the sleep test thing years ago and bought the Cpap machine but I cant handle it. For me it was use the machine and stay awake all night or sleep without it and hope to wake up in the morning! So far so good.

An old geezer told me that I needed to 'exercise' the roof of my mouth to reduce the fatty tissue!! (WTF!) To do this, press your tongue hard against the roof of your mouth and at the same time whistle Dixie, no,  force a wide grin. Keep this pressure on for a total of 10 to 15 minutes a day.

I have been doing this for years now and it actually has worked.  so far.. (watch the obituaries for any updates!!   )

I was diagnosed with severe apnea around 15 years ago....did the entire test in some place that had a room that looked like I sleeping at my grandmothers as a kid. Weighed over 300 pounds, and slept on my back. I would wake myself up snoring, all night long. Had to drink 12 cups a coffee a day to stay awake. They gave me the machine, fitted for my face, and gave it a go. I simply could not handle the mask after a week or so.

Ended up losing 30 pounds, and sleeping on my side. I was still pounding the coffee, addicted to the caffeine, but slept all night....only occasionally snoring. I was re-tested, and it was now mild to moderate, depending on side sleeping vs back. Found out the first study group (forget their name) went out of business, and was sued by medicare...seemed "everybody" had severe apnea. Next group was more honest, and did not suggest any machine or mask...said lose a few more pounds, and sleep on my side (which I did most of the study)....that machine is simply too much to sleep with...agree with ozpete.

Since then, lost another 30 pounds, dropped the coffee to a cup a day, still sleep on my side...don't snore anymore. Never tired during the day.

From what I remember, if you snore, it does not mean you have apnea, but if you don't snore, you don't have it. Ask your partner.

Also, try to sleep on your side (not tummy as that will ruin your back) and if you are a bit obese like I was, lose some weight.

Apnea is dangerous....if you are tired during the day, I'd do as was suggested in this thread...save up the coins and head to Chong Hua. (do the snore test first)

BTW, still have the machine back in the states, one week used although older...if I do a roundabout again, I will gladly give it to anybody who needs it (if it still works). I also have a ton of masks, tubes...all the stuff I kept getting even after I was not using.

I brought a pair with me - no charge as baggage

If anyone wants to try PM me - also have several masks - full face I believe and small  nose only

Haven't used since I got here - lost the weight - must have hit the critical limit

Tip about the nose only mask -  may need a chin strap to hold mouth closed - otherwise sever dry mouth from constant air flow

Dr. Lim Rafannan is the sleep doctor at Chong Hua. He is on 1st floor of medical arts building. In the new mall out on SRP thereis a store on the 3rd floor called Far East Medical that sells both cpap and bipap machines. However they are quite expensive php 69000 for a cpap and php 169000 for the more advanced machine a bipap.  But they give foreigners the senior discount + no VAT . I just purchased a bipap for php 120000 which I will file with Tricare. The machine is not USA made but it seems to work very well and has a lot of nice features. I have ordered USA machines and that is expensive . If you have issues they must go to USA for service. I got screwed by DHL. They sent a machine to USA for me, but screwed the paper work and machine came back to Cebu where I had to pay php 13,000 in custroms . The machines available at SRP  have lifetime free service.  FYI
