LTO at SM City do not do conversions they do renew ONLY

that could be why the insufficient answer

I have very often found that if you ask a filipino a question

they will try to answer (answer may be wrong), BUT they will not tell you other options

probably because they do not know

here are the 4 LTO offices that will do conversions

Talisay:  http://wikimapia.org/#lang=en&lat=10.260206&lon=123.830423&z=20&m=b

Cebu City:  http://wikimapia.org/#lang=en&lat=10.298121&lon=123.892692&z=20&m=b

Mandaue:   http://wikimapia.org/#lang=en&lat=10.323229&lon=123.946300&z=20&m=b

Lapu Lapu:  http://wikimapia.org/#lang=en&lat=10.316935&lon=123.964400&z=19&m=b

Unfortunately the LTO web site is down

and so is the immigration web site

So...my wife and I stopped in the LTO today and she enquired about liscences for us..

Since she is dual citizenship they said no prob and she could start the process. However they said I had to be in in the Philippines 1 year before I could apply. This didn't sound right but wondering if things have changed...this thread is sfrom 2014.

Also, do I need to surrender my US liscence to obtain a local liscence?

As far as I remember that is incorrect

You have to show that you will stay in the philippines at least 1 year after you apply

grr  the LTO site is down

Actually this has changed, you now only need to show you be in the country for six months.

Yes it is now 6 months

I do not remember what LTO offices was on the list, but I guess that any LTO office that do driver licenses can do it

SkyMan

I believe they can do it at Seaside which seems to be the most lenient on the residency requirement.
