TorJay 845
Every so often we could all use a reminder of what to do and what not to do when travelling. Most of these tips are common sense. http://www.lonelyplanet.com/asia/travel-tips-and-articles/76192?affil=fb-fan Paul, note #15 Edited August 15, 2012 by TorJay
Paul 55,116
Paul, note #15 You know, I did make that post jokingly. But, on the property owned by Independence Hotel, there must be hundreds of the long tails. They are all over the place. The property is huge, actually. Anyway, the monkeys have been fed for so long by people, that they walk right up to you. most will anyway. The exception is a mother carrying her baby and some of the smaller, younger ones that are a bit shy of humans, still. The only incident that has occurred with me present, was this. There were several people feeding them, including me, one afternoon. A baby was across the road from the pack. A young woman was feeding the monkeys, but between the baby and the pack. The largest male, I suppose, figured he needed to protect the baby. So, he began approaching the young woman and growling, showing teeth - the works. I went up past the woman and got between her and the male. He didn't want to give up, but I convinced him that he should back down, using my natural charm.

Justin Kredible 1,996
Number 9: 38 people get killed everyday on scooters in Thailand?!?!?!?!?! Edit: Had to add that of the 860,000 British tourists that visited Thailand in 2008, 269 were killed. Although possessing the best food, Thailand is considered the most likely destination to meet an untimely demise.
