All Time Favourite One Dish Food

Recommended Posts

KennyF

LinC has had 'All time Greatest Movies', 'All Time Favourite Tune' and a few other 'The Best Ever .......'

The question here is, what is your all time favourite dish that is served on one plate, no sides or sauces

I like all kinds of food and have to say my general preference is Thai, but my all time favourite one dish meal is Belgian Carbonades Flamandes avec Stoemp.

Basically a beef and beer stew with mashed potato and cabbage.

Yes, I know, sound terrible, but believe me, on a cold winters day nothing beats it.

Given a 'last meal' situation, I'd pick above all else.

There is a Mexican dish called queso flameado that I would get at a little taqueria in Houston. So bad for you but tastes so good!! It's basically melted ooey gooey cheese served with diced fajita meat or chorizo with a side of tortillas. You just make your own little tacos out of it.

Kinda like a Mexican food version of fondue. You can get it many different ways, by mixing and matching, but my favorite was with beef fajita meat.

I would say a home-made pizza with toppings of whatever you feel like to add at the time of cooking...

Plus extra virgin olive oil and fresh basil just before serving…

More importantly, a bottle of good red wine which will "forgive" you of any sins you made during cooking… :biggrin_01:

one quart of haagen-daz vanilla ice cream, microwaved in the container just long enough to get the outside part warm while the inside is still cold and just turning liquid. drink it down and you have about 3000 calories of healthy dairy product in one quick meal.

i miss the days when i could do that.

I used to get that at Pappasito's in Houston. Just to die for. However my choice has to be the Matamoros Ribs.

with a side of tortillas
Does not qualify by the OPs description. :)

I'll go with my lasagna. I'll have to see if I can rustle up the ingredients...

Ok, now Tim, you're going completely off the no sides track here.

Peking Duck!

Is that the duck that's a fish?

Or am I thinking of Bombay duck?

That's the Bombay Duck which I haven't tried. The Peking Duck is roasted duck succulent juicy meat inside a crispy salted brown skin brushed with hoisin sauce.
