Johnny Tapia, a prizefighter who won world titles in three weight classes in a chaotic life that included jail, struggles with mental illness, suicide attempts and five times being declared clinically dead as a result of drug overdoses, was found dead at his home in Albuquerque on Sunday. He was 45.

Williams went off the road trying to avoid another vehicle and was thrown from his motorcycle. He's conscious and alert in an Atlanta hospital, and his manager said his positive attitude is the same as it's been throughout his 12-year pro boxing career.

When I was living in Santa Fe NM back in the late 90's I happened to see Johnny Tapia walking around the Plaza there..He was like the Pacquaio of New Mexico back then.All I remember was he was one tough looking Hombre..I cant imagine at 8 years old seeing the brutal murder of his mother.
