anyone else having trouble with globe broadband?

In the last few weeks their service has become very flaky.... i cant be sure but i think it might be a bigger problem related to their proxy server in manila ...prehaps related to dns servers.

If anyone else had a fall off in service recently ..well that would be interesting.

If this carries on i may just opt for PLDT.

I have been having problems with Globe broadband for about 3 years, sometimes worse than others. I have 100+ emails worth of complaints. The last few days have gotten steadily worse than usual, which is not unusual. In fact I tried to post a while ago to see if anyone else was having problems, but of course it timed out. I wish I had better options.

No problems with Globe - this is in Banawa. Wifi download around 2.55-2.6 mbps, upload at 0.45. Same as the last time I used Speedtest a few weeks ago.

I haven't been able to access Gmail and some other sites the last couple of days, but the connection is pretty good. Streaming sports right now without problems.

strange thing is i have been pinging sites in command prompt..... very patchy with many losses. When i put the ip address in that was being pinged it doesnt always come up with the right site. For example livingincebuforums.com ..if i take the ip address it gives me that it was when pinging it takes me to http://50.22.77.148/cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi instead of livingincebuforums.com in the browser ....wtf?

Yup same here, just not as long because I haven't had it as long. Globe had me locked out of Gmail for over a week and out of my bank for almost three weeks! That was not even a little bit fun. Complaining to them is a waste of time, they never take any action. Here in MB we have no other options but Globe, so we're stuck and must sit and suffer.

i don't know if it'll help you at all. and you would have to look up your banks ip

but here's a list of ip addresses you can try when your internet provider is having look up issues

google itself is on the list but gmail is a bit different. maybe if you can get to google thought you'll be able to go through to gmail from there

not my list but it was sent to me somewhat recently

if anyone would like to add to it that would be good too

Thanks guys.....appreciate the feedback. .....problems seem to go away in the small hours.... Maybe globe is getting server saturation during the day?

Yes, I have been having the same types of problems lately, especially with Google and Gmail. Overall, my experience with Globe has been ok, not great but ok. They do seem to go through periodic service problems though, which I always assumed were related to service upgrades. LOL, maybe that's just wishful thinking!

Here is the technical explanation for that happening http://en.wikipedia....Virtual_hosting

Name-based virtual hosts use multiple host names for the same IP address

I have also noticed that their service always gets much slower on weekends. This weekend has been very bad and getting worse as I post. The "secure" sites are worse or unreachable (like my bank).

ok... but is pinging a site still valid if its doing the above?

Yes with a ping you will hit the machine that is hosting the web pages
