History

This one-stop adventure park is the brainchild of a Cebuano family, who had been trying for years to come up with the best way to make use of their property. Ever an adventurous bunch, the idea of building an adventure park on this particular property took hold of the members of the family during one exciting escapade on the other side of the world. What they first planned as a simple zip line and mini recreation center had blossomed into a full-blown adventure and nature park. They had plenty of room to explore and utilize, so why not offer more activities for people to enjoy? The Danasan Eco Adventure Park also provides the perfect chance to promote tourism for the Cebu province, as well as supply plenty of employment opportunities to the local community. For this family, this is their way of sharing their grand adventures to the world.

.

How to get there?

This map will guide you on how to get to Danasan Eco Adventure Park. Getting there is actually the beginning of the series of adventures that you will experience in this memorable expedition. Have fun!

I dont know about you, but that map of theirs, is rather too much 'artistic licence'?

Looking at their Map, you might think it is not too far too travel from Danao?

As the Crow flies, the distance from Compostella to the Danau City turn-off is 8.0Km (Bearing 10 Degrees True).

So what do you think the distance to Danasan Eco Adventure Parkmight be, from their Map on How to Get There!

Well they have actually shown it a shorter distance than Compostela, as the crow flies, so you might be forgiven for thinking <8Km!

They have it well Signposted along the Route, but they never say how far to the Danasan Eco Adventure Park!

Well we* know exactly how far it is from that Danao Turn-off!

* The 5 of us who rode our motorccles on Green Trail Ride #20 last Sunday(29th Jan 2012)

Located in Barangay Danasan (a good hour away from Danao City, Cebu, Philippines).

I think their Time Keeping, is as good as their Map Drawing!

This was the intended Route of Green Trail Ride #20

GTR20_Proposed-RouteMap.jpg

In practice we only made it toDanasan Eco Adventure Park

(6th 'dot' along the Trail in Yellow, heading West from the turn-off @ Danao)

My front tire went flat, but I was prepared as it had a 'Vulcanising' repair twice, but a valve tear is tricky to fix reliably, especially if your tire loses any pressure and there is 'Tire Creep'. I was prepared as I bought a new 21", and the Center Stand that I bought off 'Cigar Mike' in the USA and had shipped to Cebu, really makes such jobs so much easier.

Brett, Bruce and Mark also want such Center Stands for thier XT225 Serrow, for same reasons.

This flat tire occured 13.3Km from that Danau turn-off (as the Crow Flies, bearing 270 Degrees True)

20.7km logged on my GPS.

It took about 1 hour to remove the wheel, get the tire off, tube out, new tube in, fit tire valve through hole in rim and tighten nut loosely, then. inflate tube slighty. Then comes the more tricky part of getting the other tire bead, over the rim. The secret is to make sure the tire is well seated into the 'well' of the rim! If you do that, about 80% of the tire usually goes on, without having to use any tire levers. (I also have a useful tool, made from aluminium for getting the bead over the rim, so it does not damage allow rims). Some rubber lubricant (KY Jelly?), helps this process.

Some 'liquid refreshmen' also refreshes the mechanic and helps the process also - hence it taking 1 hour, including washing ones hands (because of the dirt on tire, and rubber dust).

DanasanEcoAdventurePark_Sat-Route.jpg

The GPS Track of GTR #20, as viewed with Google Earth Browser plug-in shows just how far over towards the West Coast , that Danasan Eco Adventure Park actually is!

18.5Km from that Danao turn-off (as the crow flies Bearing 280 Degrees true).

27.3km being actual Distance to Danasan Eco Adventure Park along the Route

(according to MapSource and the GPS Track Logs)

MapSource estimates 43 mins to cover that 27.3Km. In practice one can't cover that distance in that time, as it does not reflect having to contend with Fords, 'V' dips in the road (in places where there perhaps may be water crossing the road at times), road subsidance and landslip, and unpaved road (dirt track) in sections.

An edited GPS Track Log (where stops for Tire Repairs and liquid refreshments, and a wrong turn, are cut out, and GPS Track joined, to form a contiguous non-stop ride from that Danao turn-off), has us starting 10:56 and arriving 13:10 some 2h 14m of riding with an average speed of just 12Kmph.

10-15kmph being the slow sections for hazzards or bad road sections, and 35-42kmph on the better sections. We could have gone faster but you dont get to admire the view and the Video shoot, is not as clear. I cant see anyone doing it in 1 hour, safely!

Hit those 'V-dips' in the road, at high speed, and you are likely to become a cropper?

A lightweight Pilipino on a tuned 150cc 'Underbone', with good suspension and brakes, with no sense of self preservation, might do it in 1 hour, if they were stupid (or paid enough), to risk it?

So What is there To Do in the Park?

David: It looks relly nice, so was it worth the drive?

To be honest we went on the RIDE as part of Green Trail Ride #20 as just being another East-West Route that exists, and had never ridden. We had not planned any stop at this place (as I for one did not know it existed until I kept seeing the many signposts for it as we travelled the planned route for GTR#20.

Perhaps the road is only half decent becauseof this Danasan Eco Adventure Park?

Certainly, if we had carried on, after 300 meters of unpaved Road, you then had 3.8Kn of 4 x 4 Trail to follow before getting back on Unpaved Road again. You can alternative stay on the unpaved Road and take a detour North then head South to cut off 800m of the 4x4Trail, but you end up travelling 300m more distance instead.

After the 4x4Trail ends, it is mostly Unpaved Roads shown on the RoadGuide.ph 2.04 Map, with sections of paved indicated (which might not be in good repair in remote areas, with not so much traffic, with low priorities to fix).

We decided to stop, and check out, Danasan Eco Adventure Park for the following reasons:-

  1. It was on our Route (with in your face signs confirming the drection - but nevertelling the distance to go)
  2. Our Schedukle had been disrupted with i) stop to check Ferry Schedule to Camotes Islands from Danao, ii) fixing my flat front tire
  3. It was getting late, and we were hungry - too late to make it to Balamban!
  4. As we had travelled over 25Km to reach it, why ride on by, without checking it out?

Then having finished Lunch we went to our motorcycles and Alvin discovered he had a rear wheel with a flat tire. We pumped it up, but it was going doown and needed Vulcanizer repair as no spare 18" tube to effect repair (and I had used my 21", that can be used to effect a repair on the 18", which is why I did not carry an 18" Tube also).

The nearest vulcaniser was to the east - back the way we had come from. Actaully the closest Vulcanizerwasno longer offering such service, and the next was even further East, where we had come from.

It was now tto late to get back to Danasan Eco Adventure Park, and certainly too late to continue to East Coast, and down to Balamban, let alone travel on to Toledo and eat @ HillTop Restaurant, as some suggested!

As it happened, it was starting to get dark by the time we got to Cebu City. At least no Mountain Roads to contend with, in the dark.

Sorry, can not (YET) offer any REPORT on any of the Adventure Rides or the Treking, or the Caving, Rapelling,or Horse Riding.

Sure it is a bit of a Journey to get to Danasan Eco Adventure Park, but that journey is part of the adventure.

Some really great views along the way and hopefully Brett (govoner100 on YouTube) will upload some Video from his GoPro HelmetCam.

If you want some Adventure Thrills, without the Journey, then there is the Sky Experience Adventure,

right here in Cebu City!
