Euro collapse

Guenther why would you say Russia would join the EU. I can not see that. Russia and the Floundering economy they have. Turkey just a few years ago had to devalue the Lira because the bill was not big enough to handle all the zeros.

Why not ?

Everybody is talking whatever jibberish comes into his mind, based upon some 2nd class newspapers, common prejudices and without any political working background.

About the Turkish and the Lira... as long as they are not in the EU, they can play any trick in the book as it pleases them.

France did it before, Italy was a master in it.

So i predict that Turkey will come in and Russia too.

Think 25 years back- if i had predicted ( i actually had, but for the years 2000 or later) that the iron curtain comes down, people laughed loud at me and rather predicted that the Sowjet Union throws nukes or tanks at us.

1989 EVERYBODY was in deep fear that the demonstrations in east Germany would lead to another Sowjet Power demonstration. I said Not.

And so many other examples.

The world is changing with lightning speed, maybe to fast for some...

The OP article is full of shit and nonsense.   I suggest to read decent newspapers/magazine with real and full background info.   here is one :   http://www.spiegel.de/international/

From a link on your "decent" newspaper.

http://www.nytimes.c...ner=rss&emc=rss

As for the authors of the original piece they have made millions predicting what happens in the markets. I'll always give that more weight than journalist who are often blithering puppets of leftist without ever having the experience of creating a single job or dollar.

Unfortunately the "leftist" (why don't you just say communists) are only reporting what they are told. While your article is an OPINION.

And that the "Spiegel" is a very decent news magazine, well you brought the proof- they even allow and post other quotations and contrary articles. Now, thats what i call good and multi facetted journalism !

btw- the Article in the NYT is also just an opinion, or a collection of quotations manifesting a viewpoint, well, which one actually ? Cause i can't see any punchline..

Hey Catman... What's your "opinion" on Italian bond rates going up by 1% in a single day? Not everyone has 9 lives, you know... those of you who are perfectly sanguine about all this, do a search on credit default swaps and see how much dynamite has been piled up around those Euro zone tinderboxes.

I have passed dozens of "dooms days" --- never knew about them so they would have been a surprise.? As they never happened ?? They were NOT a surprise. <_<

Tom

If the world really was going to end I would prefer to be surprised.

The punchline being the communist/socialist types that comprise 90% of the media have never done anything useful and pose their opinions as facts. meanwhile they have never ran a business, created jobs, or have any experience in in the real world. They are just lapdogs ready to jump at their master's bidding.

Look at how little coverage Obama's treason with Fast and Furious is getting, or his corruption in the loans to his supporters. 2 billion to Soros to drill in Brazil while 150,000 oilmen in the gulf are out of work from his drilling ban on our own shores. 25% unemployment among males 25-55. etc.

The media is the punchline which is why Fox News dominates them all because it's the only mainstream source that isn't hard left.

Makes no sense to try to explain anything anymore. If one hasn't an open mind and proclaims that everybody is a Communist/Socialist/Liberal who is of a different opinion, and use this as an argument to say, that he is wrong, where does it make sense ? it's like i say, all conservatives are Nazis and they are no good. (Silly, right ? It is, just as the opposite is )

One last Info - Germany is a Socialist country according to your standards, with very leftists tendencies towards communism.

Strangely how they do so well...

This how brainwashed and ill informed people are...sorry, can't help you out anymore. Just headlines by some ultra right wing TV stations and other obscure newspapers which nobody watches in the FREE world. Or if, laughs his (and wipes) ass off.

Their demagogic system is simple, raise a few flags and a lot of anthems and music "tatata". And the simple minded love it and believe all that crap, Pathetic. see, there is nothing wornd with , say , watching FOX news, when at the same time one switches the channel and watches BBC or Al Jazeera TV(for mid east affairs) . And then makes up his mind in the middle. For economy i would watch or read a financial TV or newspaper, its numbers and happy days.

i am always a little astonished how some US citizens make up their mind with only ONE source of information.

Not that it is totally wrong, but when others say something, they should even listen more to it.

And just to set one on top ( the US way just to hold a mirror up )

- The USA is so fecked up economically, that the "commie" Chinese and Russian now own them. And its all alone their leaders fault, mostly started by the Reagan/Bush Aera.

I follow that up since childhood and everybody with 5 cents of brain could see where it ends. In NOW.

And all what is done is to look for someone to blame instead of helping the current Gov. to solve the crisis. How silly.

This part of your post is factually incorrect. Just because they own debt does not mean they own the US. That's like saying if you owe a mortgage then the bank owns you...that's silly. Remember, a large part(one third) or $4.7trillion of the $14 trillion US debt is owned by other US Government agencies like Social Security($2.4 trillion), City and state Governments, Federal Employee Retirement funds(1.4trillion).....Foreign Governments and Investors own a total of $4.5 trillion....Dennis

Agreed. The "buy our debt, own us, and sell us" scenario is a rerun from '80s Japan. It ended pretty badly for them, and not for the US, which went on to experience, yet again, relative prosperity. The jury is still out on this one, but you may want to think twice before betting against the US in the long run.

I know its absolutely incorrect and nonsense, i just wanted to make an example how so many Posts about the Europe topic read to me.

Slogan and headlines and other one sentence statements without any practical or theoretical background.

i didn't make that clear enough with my rant...

I agree with you there...all these doomsday scenarios don't take into account the pure inertia of a large entity like the EU...Personally, I think the EU would do very well without Greece...maybe a small drop(correction) in the Euro but, it will bounce back. As an American, I appreciate the Euro as it keeps our Government on it's toes and provides competition for the US Dollar. The Euro crisis hopefully will give the big spenders in Congress and the White House a wake-up call. Dennis

I tell you what is gonna happen sooner or later-

The Russian Federation will join the EU AND the ECU zone, probably even before Turkey.

What everyone overlooks is the gigantic market of the former eastern Block markets. That's were the money is for the next 2 Generations.

What a load of absolute rubbish. The very last thing Russians want is to be part of the EU or the Euro and there is nobody in the Russian administration even faintly in favour. Prime Minister Putin - who will be Russia's next President - is dead against such a move.
