i will admit i have a weakness for a women in uniform and i sure would not mind a full body frisk from a couple of the female guards.. wonder if it would work to say your carrying a rod in your pants

One of the things that has really impressed me since I came to this country is the professionalism and courtesy of the security guards you see virtually everywhere. My wife often says, "let's ask the security guard" when we have a question. I'm always skeptical, but by golly those guys usually know the answer! This incident really underscores the physical risk those guards are taking every day. I can't imagine they get much tactical training and their equipment is barely servicable in most cases. I've often observed that the guards would be sitting ducks in an actual planned robbery by well-armed assailants, as they will be the first ones to get shot in the face by the bad guys. This nation - and all of us expats in particular - owes them a big debt of gratitude for being out there taking that risk every day. I'm going to make it a point to start thanking them for their courageous service, and I hope you'll all do the same.

When I have read the thread title I believed some customer was unhappy with the sisig served and shot the cook. But such a robbery in a place like Robinson's? Hmm...

That money changer had the best rate for USD. There was always a line up, no wonder the attack happened there. If this gang is from Ozamis (and not only their name) someone local must have tipped them out.

Well, this is getting too much - bloodbath in Robinson's in daylight... Next time massacre in SM Hypermart between two "happy to serve" ?

But at least security guards were not involved in the robbery. Obviously... the poor ones.

That's some hardcore robbery, grab the money, shoot everyone and run. They even shot the woman. Brutal. Good thing they're gone now.

Mae just told me she was walking up the steps near Cebu Pacific when she saw a fella walk up to a Security Guard and shoot him. She then ran for cover.

People is people to their loved ones. IMHO

Scumbags or not we should not "Glory" in their demise.

I am torn between whether I feel this was good thing or bad thing. It is just money and two innocent people lost lives in the process. Would they have lost life if the police did not get involved? That we will never know.I think not.

I am bereft of understanding ??? "I am torn between whether I feel this was good thing or bad thing".

Completely and utterly ????ing Bewildered... :scratch_head: Yer man Tom....

The point the police responded and handled the situation is a good sign. It shows us they are actually trying to get a handle on crimes by gangs and individuals.

Will that translate further and quell some of the violence that has erupted in the country in recent months. I think not. The police force is just to small and under funded.

My prayers for the families of the two individuals and police that were injured or killed.

Violence can be shocking and stomach churning in cases such as this, we would all rather hope it doesn't happen but its a reality and if left unchecked the bad guys only see it as a sign of weakness - and continue their evil trade. A quote by Edmund Burke stands so very true, " All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing"

Very Brazen and stupid on the part of robbers. I am guessing and purely speculating that these guys were very junior members of the gang and this was some sort of pass the initiation test or some sort of punishment. The amount of money certainly doesn't justify the risks.

on another point. Am I the only one that feels paranoid at the ATM as we see even the well guarded ones are up for a hit . I also try to avoid places where the Armored car is pulled up loading or unloading. Never know when the when the bad guys will drive by. This isn't the best news for Cebu (Fuente Area ) tourism.

Very sorry for ALL who lost their lives in this exchange but not sorry the coppers took decisive action.

If getting the he/l away when an armoured vehicle appears at the bank is a sign of paranoia then there are at least 2 of us are paranoid...I have been GTFOOTW for years

Oh being a Marine do I know that. Yet it does not in away make it feel any better when it happens. It does not bring people back. So yes it is a part of what we sometimes must do. You just hope that all means had been considered before we do it. As in this case you hoped the police did all they could do. By all reports the lost of life was necessary.

Like a lot of tid bits we get here not sure if this is correct or not.

Ozamis city is believed to be known as the bank robbers capital of the Philippines. More robbery gangs have originated from here than any other city, There are more banks per head of population in Ozamis than any other city. Why ? because the robbers needed somewhere safe to store their loot.!! How many bank robberies occur in Ozamis.......not many, the local warlord would be well and truly pissed that the same had been visited upon them.
