Cut in Military benifits

Recommended Posts

Hi James, i also love when you talk like that, a real word artist.

Just one mistake in your argument (which is in principal absolutely correct, i am also against cuts of benefits for the soldiers, they should be the last)

The cowardice poltically correct GOD hating tree hugging socialist groupie would not send ANYONE to other countries getting killed. They would cut the entire military down to a level of protecting his nation within its borders against attacks from outside.

That is all i am adding.

Yeah, but he gets his point across...no miscommunication there.:lmao:

I think I would have liked to see a drastic cut in foreign aid (most especially Pakistan - they got over a billion dollars every year for last decade) over any cuts to military personnel; active, reti

I know I am late in replying to this thread, but have you ever checked the voting records of Republicans vs Democrats when it comes to support for Veterans? I also would like to know your source rega

Fine, start with the people that did nothing for what they're getting.

As I stated in my earlier post. This is for future benefits. It is designed to change the retirement structure for current active military. It is not coming after the already retired or the VA programs. The worse part of the bill is this. It is designed to count on the ignorant and ill informed parts of the military to not invest properly in retirement. Thus the saving will be based on those people. It is not a guarantee anymore as it once was. Additionally age factor will play a part in the future 62 is currently the age being tossed around.

Let me add after 20 years of service I deserved a retirement. Same with future generations.

There are very few jobs that pay what I earned and had you endure what I endured. If you think otherwise you are mistaken. Budget cuts this is not where you cut. Cut how you spend the money and on what fat there is. As there is tons of it.

Just so you get some idea of life:

1. 3 years combat zones

2. 5 years foreign countries

3. 18 months ship duty

4. 4 years of work ups prior to deploying

Now if you think in that 20 years I had anything that resembled a normal life?

Those 9 1/2 years were 12 hour shifts no weekends and no holidays. Christmas in 1990 I remember going to work as we geared up for the Gulf War. It was my real first dose of this is not Kansas. People that do these jobs get very little in return. It looks like fun on TV but in reality it is no fun till its over. Then you forget the crap and remember the fun shit. All MRE's taste like cardboard after you eat a few hundred.

You are way too kind. :D

I have to admit, though, that MRE's were better than Lurp rations.

cary show me one instance where obama hates his country?ONE

Well I don't know about him hating the country but he did say one thing I will never forget. Early in his term he made a proposal that military personel wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan use their own health insurance for continuing care after their discharge. There was such an outcry that he withdrew the suggestion after making the comment "I thought they would be more patriotic."

This country has a bad track record regarding the treatment of their veterans. When the shooting stops don't be surprised at anything that happens. After all if they don't cut your benifits some of the Democrats might have to get jobs.

He lied when trying to be a Military Hero or trying to gain Military approval. That is why I will never vote for the man. I will never find anything he says credible. People that served should be offended by someone trying to pigback off there sacrifices. As for the cuts of military benefits I am not against cutting back if and when I see others in the position of authority cut there benefits. Which they have not done.

If intrested.

This is not political because I would feel that way about anybody who does it.

Thanks for the source - I disagree with your opinion, but such is life -

I did find a source regarding Obama proposing that private insurance be used to by veterans to pay for Medical Care - It was proposed and partly due to overwhelming opposition by both Democrats and Republicans it never made it passed the proposal stage.

However, if you are receiving care at a VA Clinic or Hospital now - even if you are service connected, if you have private insurance, the VA will charge that private insurance as much as they can.

I spent a night at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis - I had Chest Pain. A couple of days later I went through several tests to determine if in fact I had heart Issues - I had none. My private Insurance company was billed and they sent me a statement showing that of the $25,000 + that the VA billed out, my insurance company paid $12,000 - I never saw the remaining. (I belonged to a Union at the time and my medical insurance was part of our bargaining agreement - thus didn't cost me any out of pocket).

Once I hit 65 the VA will start charging Medicare if I need to spend time in a hospital, but since I am service connected, most everything else is Free anyway.

It is always hard to give something up. I am not against it. I just say if I must give so should others. The congress and house have great plans that have given up nothing. Thus I say they must before I will. If they do and I see them sacrifice then if enough I will sacrifice the same. I am service connected and never had any problems with the VA or with Military Health coverage.

In fairness, and I know this is not going to be popular, but a lot of Americans are "taking pay cuts" and have been for some time.

No but just opted to not vote for that guy either. However mattered zero as I am from Texas. He really did not lie but his political clout got him a spot with Texas National Guard.

It is one thing I am very strong against when people use the Military to which they did not serve as some spring board. I will never vote for some one who does it. NEVER......... I find it appalling to those that did.

I HOPE they didn't have to pay for their own meals! That's deplorable.

I'm sure they do. If they receive BAS (Basic Allowance for Subsistance) which is intended for meals then that is charged to them in the hospital since they are receiving free meals. My daughters were both born in the USAF Academy Hospital in Colorado Springs and since my X was active duty and receiving BAS at the time, I had to pay a few days of her BAS back at discharge. So, instead of the outrageous fees charged by civilian hospitals for child birth, I had to pay like $8 for the first and around $10 for the second. I laughed about it and put the receipts in their baby books.

Now, you might wonder why these guys had to pay back some BAS if they have families but BAS is only for the member, not for the family eating budget.
