I though it would be nice to find out a bit more about the members here. I will start and I urge others to share what is comfortable for them as well. That way we will have a bit of understanding as to why some take offense to some issues, but also who we might ask for help.

Not much to say about myself. Mid-Fifties, retired, postal worker, I have no kids, one girl friend (Filipina), and I am considering a pet. I have enjoyed literature for most of my life, the last ten years I have primarily read mystery novels with a historical setting. I am an armchair cook, reading about things culinary and watching cooking shows when the opportunity avails itself. I can, however, pinch a chef's knife properly and, given time, mince garlic properly.

I have not saved the world, the whales, or promoted whirled peas in any significant way. Which is pretty much how I want it. I enjoy the Philippines and its history and am studying, in a somewhat haphazard manner, the Philippine Constabulary under the American Occupation of these islands.

I like edged weapons though primarily those found in the kitchen. I was at one time a firearms dealer (selling mostly Rugers and Colts while considering Smith and Wesson a rather girlish weapon) and admire any well made weapon of destruction. But I am not quite so enamoured with them now, nor with the concept of harming my fellow man (or woman), preferring to keep my enemies at bay with pasta when necessary.

I have attended colleges and universities in the midwest, west coast and northwest, but never took a degree, having a somewhat ambivalent attitude toward academics.

I live in reduced circumstances but which have not affected my girth significantly, so it is not surprising that I prefer a taxi to a jeepney and can barely fit into a trike.

I am comfortable sharing this much:

I am 48 years old, have been married once, for 27 years.

The best thing that marriage produced is three wonderful children.

I plan on marrying again, to a Filipina.

I spent 6 years in the military, where I learned many ways to blow shit up, and many ways to kill.

I like a good game of chess, sailing, horse riding, carpentry, elcetical, plumbing and working on cars

I like off road motor cycling.

I enjoy helping others, especially those less fortunate than myself.

I love women (non-Americanized women) and tend to spoil them.

I enjoy tennis, golf, playing catch and tossing a frisbee, playing horse-shoes and swimming.

I like being appreciated.

I am 44 years old. This is my second marriage. Have 4 children, 3 of them in college and one special child, an autistic who is 12 years old. I've been a straight student from 6 to 21 years old and graduated Bachelor's degree in Economics in a Catholic University 1984. Have been a government employee from 1986 to Oct. of 1998 and along the road studied law only for a year and half, Public Administration for one year and MA in Education for a year..but never get any degree... Not even a year after I render my early retirement from the government to concentrate on my my small craftshoppe my Filipino husband died of accident, July of 1999. My world changed upside-down. From that day to December of 2000, I was in the lowest point of my life! Sold everything for me and my children to survive and pay one housekeeper to attend to my children. As in total moment of depression. Re-start my business January 2001 and got a teaching job in a State College. Months later a friend brought a piece of paper with 10 names of men (that was a cherry blossom ads) in my house and pushed me to write one of them! "...willing to live in the Philippines for good and will accept children.." That was the beginning of a long distance relationship...2003 I remarried!

Now, I keep myself busy organizing trainings and seminars in which I am paid a little bit. And with the help of some friends, I initiated a Scholarship Project for poor but deserving High School students. With an ex-pat husband, my special child, my project and the forum :P I'd like to think I do have a busy life. Thank you, bow! Daisy J. Cline at your service.

Never set my foot on Phil soil, (but I will in 3 weeks) and I am still a "wannabe". Maybe i should keep a low profile, but here is my story anyway.

Micke is 34 and in a fantastic shape for a 87 year old man

Single, never married, no children (no I am not gay), in Sweden we live together, have children and maybe marry when the children turns 67, just to make sure we pick the right one.

Baby booming parents = good life moneywise, sucked quality- time-wise, decided early in life that my children would not have to live that way. That probably explains my fascination for the more traditional ways in the Asian culture.

Been a sailor for 6 years in the merchant fleet, (No I don

OK my turn I guess.

I'm 53. Finished high school and realized I knew everything so no need for college.

Spent the next 20 years in the US Navy. Avation electronics technician. Pacific fleet. Had a heck of a good time. They decided I was having too much fun so they RIFed me in 1993.

Worked for a company making equipment for the semi conductor industry till it went south in 2002.

Now I work for the Air Quality department for the County. Plan to retire from that in the next year to year and a half. Plan on moving to the Philippines.

Married. Too many times. (Some people never get smarter at all) 5 Children 4 girls 1 boy Ranging from 31 to 17.

Don't know if I want to try it again or not.

I've been in and out of the Philippines since 1983. Always feels like I'm coming home when I go. Always hate to leave.

I like reading and walking. Maybe we can take a walk when I get there James I can't find anybody who likes walking either.

Im Kristine, 23 yrs old. We moved from Masbate to Cebu years ago to study here. I graduated from University of San Jose-Recoletos with a degree in Computer Science.

I have 2 children, boy 2, girl 3. My husband passed away 1 year ago.

I was living in a sheltered life until I got married early which made my life start to get worse. I haven't experienced going out with classmates or friends because my father was overprotective, until I met Bob.

Now, my life changed so much. I'm now happy and I am learning many new things. I have been to Hong Kong which I still cannot believe.. That trip opened my eyes alot about my own country.

I'm working on my second degree, in nursing, at Cebu Doctor's University.

Bob is guapo, muscular, good hearted, high sex drive, VERY smart and all round good guy!

(Archer asked me to help her edit this post and this is my contribution except some verb changes.)
