Cary 769 Posted September 20, 2010 Share Posted September 20, 2010 AN AMERICAN company plans to expand its existing power generating capacity in Luzon by as much as 600 megawatts (MW), according to Energy Secretary Jose Rene D. Almendras. On the sidelines of the House energy committee hearing yesterday, Almendras said that the Philippine delegation accompanying President Benigno Aquino III on his trip this week to the United States will be in talks with this company. The energy chief, however, declined to identify the company until a firm commitment has been made. Data from the Department of Energy showed that there are about four US-based companies that are or were operating in Luzon. AES Corp. currently operates the 650-MW Masinloc coal-fired power facility in Zambales.
