Hot N Spicy Shrimp

Yield: 6 servings

 

Ingredients

1/2 c Vegetable oil

1/2 c Chili sauce

1/2 c Catsup

1/3 c Frsh sqzed lemon juice

1/4 c Worcestershire sauce

2 tb Gravy Mstr or Ktchn Bouquet

1 ts Soy sauce

1 ts Tabasco sauce

2 tb Minced garlic

1 tb Dark brown sugar - packed

1 Lemon cut in wedges

2 lb Lge shrimp (20 - 25 count)

Shelled and deveined

Bamboo skewers - soaked 30

Minutes in water to cover

 

Combine all ingredients except shrimp in a bowl and mix well; put shrimp in a zip-lock plastic bag and pour marinade over; close bag and refrigerate for 24 hours, turning several times; remove shrimp from marinade and drain; thread on skewers with lemon wedges; broil/grill 4 to 5 inches from heat source for 3 to 5 minutes, turning and basting frequently, until shrimp are done; DO NOT OVERCOOK! serve immediately with any remaining marinade. Makes 6 to 8 servings.

close bag and refrigerate for 24 hours, turning several times

 

Yeah I am going to wake up every 3.5 hours in the middle of the night to turn... thank god for hired help !

Why do all the native cooks miss this step....Shelled and deveined?????

 

I mean, how hard is it?

 

A Chinese guy that owns a restaurant here told me it adds to the flavor. I told him shit is a flavor I can do without. And having to dig through my food with my fingers to do something the cook should have in the first place is like having to bathe my mechanic after he works on my car. I'm ok with cracking my own crab legs but I expect my shrimps to arrive naked and ready for the fork.

What you describe is a phobia rather than a taste issue. The best prawns I ever tasted were dipped in oil, rolled in salt and grilled in the shell. The shell crystallises and gets crunchy like a potato chip or prawn cracker. Hold by the tail fins, pull the tail out of the head shell and crunch, very nice, sh*t chute included. You can just eat the tail, or break the spikes off the head and the tail fins and eat the lot.

 

Are you accustomed to having your apples and oranges peeled for you too? Do you get the waiter to wipe your mouth? Do you pay for a manicure? How 'bout shaking hands with dirty looking strangers? Just curious.

Actually that's just part of the intestinal tract and colon...the vein also runs along the same area of the intestinal tract.

 

So it can't really be considered 'poop' tell its been evacuated from its sytem.
