Cebu Pacific International Baggage Allowance

Recommended Posts

I flew Cebu Pacific on an international flight recently

and I was very surprised that I was only allowed 15 kilos

(33 pounds) in total check in baggage.

http://www.cebupacificair.com/help/baggage.html

In comparison Philippine Airlines allows a total of

46 kilos (100 pounds) of checked in baggage.

Just a warning to others that baggage allowances have changed.

It was 20 KG until Sept. 2008 when it was changed to 15 KG, likely to match Air Asia which has always been 15 kg.

CebPac is the budget airline. They would charge you for the air you breathe if they could figure out how to meter it.

But, they got the cheapest tickets in town.

We got caught out with their (Cebu Pac) 15kg baggage allowance when we visited the Philippines in March. Came off an international PAL flight with a bit under their limit of 23kg each, and took a Cebu Pacific flight the next day to Bacolod. We were charged nearly P1000, plus P80 for some god awful powdered coffee. Would have been cheaper in the end to just use PAL (20kg)!

15kg is normal for a budget airline like Cebu Pacific. I'm taking a long-haul budget airline (Air Asia) flight in a couple of days, and that's their basic allowance even for a long haul, 12 hour, intercontinental flight. You have to pay extra to get an allowance of more than 15kg. But seeing as the flight cost me only the equivalent of 400 US dollars round-trip, I'm not about to complain about it. You get what you pay for with budget airlines. Besides there's no way I would possibly want to bring that much anyway. If I didn't have a considerable quantity of chocolate with me, my checked bag would weigh less than 10kg, together with about 5kg in carry-on. I have no need for any more than that.

baggage allowance in the Philippines can be less than 15kg, too. SEAir, who aren't even a budget airline, allow only 10kg, as does Cebu Pacific when they are flying into Caticlan.

and I don't know why people think they've been 'caught out' by CP's baggage allowance, as if it is something they are trying to hide. It's clearly published on the website when you are buying the flight - it's not even buried in the terms & conditions.
