Making money off stock maket investments

Recommended Posts

Alan S

Way back, before I had reached teenage years, a relative worked for a very wealthy guy. He had homes in central London, and in the country, and a chauffeur driven Rolls Royce. Very unusual in those days.

I met him once, and he told me that he was a stock broker, and explained the stock markets to me.

He also gave me one piece of advice.

"If you want to make money on buying and selling stocks, become a broker. If you cant, or dont want to, just remember that the experts spend all their waking hours devouring information, so they can make money. If you want to succeed, you will need to do the same".

I still reckon it is good advice.

He is a turf accountant for a UK company. They have betting rules and if you win too much they ban you from the stores. He had 3 people on his books that betted regular and won regular my idea was to take theyre bets and copy them into online and other betting shop bets. But he refused.. point being if you can get the right information you can make money.

that must have been a few years ago, most pro's are online or at the course these days. betting in the shops are mostly for small time punters and those that mostly lose cos as you said.. when you start winning regularly they ban you !!!

At least on the exchanges when you bet a lot they take care of you and make life easier for you by giving you your own personal broker etc.

Anyway isn't your suggestion cheating/fraudulent/illegal... :):P

But then again isnt Betting for all and banning someone for being good at it go against the point of betting? It was just using information that became available to an advantage. At the end of the day the turf accountants make sure things are stacked in theyre favour to the best of their ability so cant see a problem with doing something similar.. "taking advice". This was around 4 years ago, also I think some of the "betters" were runners but the information was on the money. The one betting shop near my old house took a hit of

Ok, well I will just continue studying a working away and see if it gets me somewhere. Today my trouble was not taking vega risk fully into account. My trades still may work out. They are much better than they were 6 months ago and I have had many recent successes.

there is a lot of money to be made in the stock market right now. Lot's of expensive stocks prices have fallen making it easier for the small investors to buy in. I don't do this as my job and I am far from a professional but lot's of research can yield good results.

I personally have made a nice killing with my Ford stock. Bought 75,000 shares at 1.51 now their at 5.75 a share. I have been flipping AXL and ARM also although I only day trade these stocks since they are constantly up and down. They have been swinging from $2.30 to $4.50 pretty regularly. I have flipped them 4 times now.

Anyways it's always a gamble. The first time I bought Ford stock it was at $8.53 in 2008. Then the recession hit and you can see how bad that went. Fortunately I'm up right now. Take a few thousand dollars and give it a shot. Just like in a casino only play what you can afford to lose.

Yes, I know, it is so easy, I bought Microsoft at $2,53 and they have split stock 10 times since. I have more money than Warren Buffet now.

It is soooo easy.

OK, I believe you.

Post copies from the brokers statements and we are all clear.

Otherwise, cheap talk.

What is it with this board. A person can't post anything without being accused of lying. Is this a Honda board. Are you guys 13.

First it was my car, then I was accused of not being excempt, then someone said I couldn't ship stuff without being taxed all to hell. Now because I made a few good stock decisions and shared some I'm a liar and I have to prove it. I don't have to prove anything. If you think I'm lying then watch those stocks I mentioned and see if I'm right.

You guys are ridiculous.

Well I don't know you or anybody else on this forum from Adam, so you can take this as disinterested advice.

I get the impression that most people on this board are not that well off, so you are unlikely to find a receptive audience by telling everybody how you made nearly $500k on a single trade (without margin).

All this is of course assuming your first question was not rhetorical.

You wrote that you made $500,000 on a single trade while most people are losing money in the stock market. I know from a broker friend that over 95 % of traders (people like you) lose money but deny it and tell their friends/family etc. how much money they are making.

I just don't believe any of those money rich quick stories unless I have proof. Don't take it personal.

See this is what I'm talking about. Please re-read what I wrote. You are so quick to say I'm lying you didn't read what I wrote.

I said I bought Ford in at $1.51 and it is currently at $5.63. When did I say I sold my stocks. I'm in it to win, plus I'm the biggest Ford nut you will ever meet. I feel like it has a few more downturns but overall I see this stock soaring in the future. I really have faith in there business plan and they get better by the day. Even tho' their progress right now is 10% worse than a year ago, the other car manufacturers are between 30 and 40 percent down from a year ago. In my opinion I have made a killing. When and if I do sell yes I will cash in nicely. Until I do I will ride this stock all the way to the bank. This ain't no money rich quick story I have earned everything I have.

Also I have lost a crap load on this Ford stock from when I first bought in before the recession. I bought in at $8.53 over a year ago and look at what it's worth now. Either way I'm up in total. So I was a part of that 95% in the beginning.

I love cars and racing and I trade stocks. I'm just trying to add my part to this forum and maybe build some freindships when I get there. Believe if you want doesn't really matter anymore after all the accusations on this board.

We do seem to have a significant number of members who dont believe anyone who has a lifestyle-income-job-motivation-whatever, that differs from theirs.

Probably best to just ignore them.

After all, you know what is, or isnt, true, and that should suffice.

Alan S., as usual you deleted another post of mine, what is the problem?

Open and free discussion isn't allowed anymore I guess, as well as having a different opinion than you?

I was moderate in my post and as it turned out, I was also right.

Things are getting out of hand, yours mostly.
