Japan's ex-leader Shinzo Abe dies after being shot at during speech

Jul 8, 2022 Former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe, 67, has died in hospital after he was shot at a political event in southern Japan, according to local media. Mr Abe was shot at twice while he was giving a speech in the southern city of Nara on Friday morning. He immediately collapsed and was rushed to the nearest hospital. Security officials at the scene tackled the gunman, and the 41-year-old suspect is now in police custody.

Abe's guards weren't very well trained. Apparently, after the first shot, security people are supposed to focus on the one they are supposed to be guarding, blocking with their bodies the next shot(s), but they didn't do that. They focused on finding the source of the shooting.
