So easily wrecked? A super typhoon?  How many years to build it? So a few weeks to repair it isn't really too bad. This is the third world.

Last year parts of Texas list power for a couple weeks because it got unusually cold.

It still isn't fixed. Electricity is back, water is back, there's no excuse for PLDT to be this incompetent.

Back to reality (and the topic) any expat knows reliable internet isn't a luxury, it's a necessity.

Sun/Smart Magic Data has been a lifesaver, and PLDT's an embarrassment.

Even Shopee / J&T is delivering again to Cebu City.

Well.. mines working Fine ☺️.And my nephew who works for PLDT  as a fibre install specialist has been working his arse off 12 hour's ++ a day up a ladder trying his best to get as many reconnections a day as possible.. Remember PLDT arrives at the premises by physical cable ( most probably optic fibre) (which is is a technicians nightmare when half a kilometre of it is lieing in the street),The Mobile service providers probably only had to do lesser repairs to get their systems (maybe towers) back up and running.No PLDT is not an embarrassment....BTW just in case you have forgotten... It's the Philippines

PLDT was out for only three days herein rural NO, and they just upgraded the line since the typhoon… came by and offered 300 up/down so I said yes and getting 309 dl/ 347 up now according to Speedtest.net. Could only get 100 before the typhoon.

So PLDT used Odette as an opportunity to upgrade the lines here.

I'm here in Sweden, having only 200 Mbps download, upload no idea perhaps 10-20 Mbps (but don't need it). Feeling like I'm living in a 3rd world country now... 

I assume, you are fiber connected?

That is correct. 
 

Yeah, 300 is more than I had in KY, equal to what I had in Florida.  But the upload is much faster than I had in either place by orders of magnitude I think 30 up is as fast as I ever had in USA.

Happy with PLDT for using Odette to improve.

I’m happily a country boy really out in the sticks (well … sugarcane) too.  2 hours or more from Bacolod, over 30 minutes to anything one might consider small city with a SM and McDonald’s.

Just purchased land at less than 100 peso/sq meter if that tells you how far. Over 2 Hectares of sugarcane field for 2 million overlooking beach on a nice tall hill so protected from typhoon storm surge and anything but biblical tsunami. 

I loved being an hour south of Duma before but land is mostly 1000 or more per sq meter there now unless you get lucky. Missed my chance when I lived there before to get affordable land.

Almost moved to Siargao for surfing for my son.  Was in talks with realtor there and only COVID making it hard to get there kept us from going to look at land there. Well… that and me dragging my feet being worried about typhoons. 

So glad we moved here now. Poor Siargao!

Maybe that's the problem, they should hire someone to help his arse. Their facebook page has been nothing but a flood of customer complaints for months. It's so bad and has been down so long that PLDT customers in Cebu City don't even need to pay their bill, and this is a company that normally never even gives a partial refunds.
