Paul 55,116
You mean like this, although this a very crude (yet functional) watts linkage set up No. I meant like the other version you posted. It would allow the axle to drop evenly, but not allow much in the way of flex, wouldn't it? (I know very little about these, as I originally stated. i was just going by the way it appeared in the image as well as in the video. I can see quite a bit of difference between the original one you posted and the modified version for off-roading, in the more recent photo. Or, am I wrong regarding the original build? Or, am I wrong regarding the original build? yes mate, your wrong, the watts linkage does no effect the throw of the axle, if you look at the centre pivot point it will allow the axle to rotate left and right but not side to side, it will not restrict the movement required, only lateral movement is arrested, sometimes the centtre swivel pivot is fitted to a cross member centrally above the diff and the two arms connect to the axle just inboard of the springs, you would have to see it working to understand it fully, you could make a simple cardboard one to test it out, the only limitation would be the throw of the leaf springs Edited October 22, 2015 by philuk
Paul 55,116
yes mate, your wrong, Fair enough. I have only seen these in images, and now - in videos. Where I am from, we came up with all sorts of crazy ideas. Just never a watts. Thanks for the education, mate. Cheers! Nothin' better than learning something new every day.
