Administrator +Dafey 15,226 Posted July 14, 2020 Administrator Share Posted July 14, 2020 Maybe trying some Filipino food? Quote Several dolphins and killer whales or Orcas were seen in the waters off Garcia Hernandez in Bohol province amid the resumption of local tourist activities after the implementation of modified general community quarantine protocols. According to Oscar Oida’s report on 24 Oras on Monday, tourist John Brian Galendez was able to capture on video the presence of the dolphins and orcas that are rarely seen in Bohol. Residents said they first saw the marine mammals on June 29 amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. It has been decades since the Orcas were last seen in the area. An official from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources said there are three reasons that the dolphins and orcas were seen in Bohol. Environment undersecretary Benny Antiporda said one of the reasons the marine mammals appeared in Bohol was that they were just lost or this may be due to climate change. https://www.msn.com/en-ph/news/national/dolphins-killer-whales-seen-in-bohol-waters/ar-BB16GimZ?ocid=msedgdhp 2

Kreole 1,584
I would be interested to know if the Orcas are huning the dolphins here. Depending on the ready sources of food, Orcas will hunt dolphins, seals, salmon and other marine animals, so some diet is specific to the location. For example, Orcas along the British Colombia inter island coast almost exclusively hunt salmon, while Orcas on the outside of Vancouver Island hunt dolphins. I am not sure if they change diets with the seasonal availability of food species. Edited July 17, 2020 by Kreole
Headshot 29,350
While some pods of Orcas seem to be focused on one specific prey species, others are more generalized in their diets. In addition to seals, seals and dolphins (porpoise), Orcas also eat whales and many different species of fish. Some pods range widely, traveling from the Arctic Ocean to the Southern Ocean and everything in between. Others are homebodies, never straying from a small range.
