I hate to talk money at a time like this, but I do have question and the embassy is useless in this area, .. > the U.S. gov't online "stimulus check" registration form requires a U.S. address - I cannot find any registration forms relating to Americans living overseas ?  I'd appreciate any info, gents .

I live here full-time and my bank accts. are here . I don't see the American gov't making a $1200. electronic transfer to my acct. here .

*All Americans living overseas are eligible, .. the only two requirements are having a SSN and the amt. you earn depending on whether you're married or single .

The embassy has zero info on this subject .

Your bride needs to be a resident alien or citizen of the USA to qualify.

Reference please. According to everything I've read, if you filed a married, filing jointly tax return, your wife and children will be included in the stimulus package. The tax return does not require citizenship or residence. It only requires an ITIN, and you can apply for that the first time you file.

If you normally have your tax refund direct-deposited into a financial institution, then your stimulus check will also be direct deposited there as well. The stimulus will be based on whatever you did on your 2018 or 2019 tax return. If you didn't file this year or last year, it may be a long time before you see anything from the stimulus package.

It's in the bill, Bill. I don't remember where I read it eleven days ago. Next time I'll keep a notebook just for you.

I don't think they should give it to people who weren't affected financially. Myself included. Most of us still get the same retirement pensions and Social Security checks. Hell I'm saving money by not getting out and about as much. Yea, of course I'll take it. I didn't say I was stupid...:P

You can donate it to the needy. $1200 one time check won't go far.

I read the senate bill. It does exclude you if you are a non-resident foreign national. However, it will be interesting to see how it actually plays out (or should I say how it pays out). We file jointly, and there is nothing in the 1040 that indicates that my wife is a foreign national. I will just wait and see how much the check is when it gets deposited. Since it was unexpected in the first place, whatever we get is better than nothing. The stimulus check is not taxable, so at least it won't increase our taxes for next year.
