Cebu Sweeper Flights - The U.S. Embassy has been advised by Philippine local authorities that there may be "sweeper" flights available tomorrow, March 24, 2020, from Cebu.  For more information and seat reservations, please immediately contact the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) Help Desk, telephone 032-494-9000.

Clark to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) – According to local authorities, a P2P (Point to Point) shuttle service is available to transport airline passengers from Clark to NAIA in Manila.  Please reach out directly to Mr. De Guzman, Genesis Transport at 09992219767.

Department of Tourism (DOT)

• There are confirmed sweeper flights from @Philippine Airlines today, March 24, 2020, departing Cebu to Manila only, open to U.S. citizens with an outbound international flight out of Manila within up to five (5) days.
• Passengers are required to show proof of flight booking confirmation and hotel reservation within Manila.
• Confirmed flights today will depart at 13:30H/1:30 p.m. and 18:00H/6:00 p.m. However, please note that the 18:00H/6:00 p.m. flight is subject to the number of passengers who will purchase tickets at the PAL ticketing office located at the Mactan Cebu Airport.
• The average cost of the flight from Cebu to Manila is approximately Php 10,000 per passenger.
• Mactan Cebu Airport Terminal reports that the next flight will be available on Friday, March 27, 2020, subject to the number of passengers.

  • There is a potential sweeper flight from Philippine Airlines tomorrow, March 26, 2020, departing Cebu to Manila.  Passengers must show proof of an outbound international flight out of Manila or a hotel reservation in Manila. 
  • Passengers are required to inquire in person and present their documents at the airport by 8:00 A.M.

All Flights to Operate Out of Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 Beginning March 28, 2020

As more and more air carriers suspend operations due to COVID-19, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) is streamlining its operations concentrating remaining flights to just one terminal. 

Beginning 0001H (12:01 A.M.) of March 28, 2020, the following airlines will be operating to and from NAIA Terminal 1:

Etihad Airways, Gulf Air, Oman Air, Korean Airlines, Asiana Airlines, China Airlines, Hong Kong Air, Eva Air, Japan Airlines, Jeju Air, All Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific, Qatar Airways, and Singapore Airlines.

Singapore Airlines, however, has announced that it will start suspending flights to and from Manila beginning March 29, 2020. 

Philippine Airlines has also announced suspension of international flight operations starting March 26, 2020. 

According to MIAA, sweeper flights will be serviced at NAIA Terminal 2.

Potential Sweeper Flight Cebu-Manila

Mactan Cebu Airport relayed the following:

• A sweeper flight from Cebu to Manila may be arranged if there are at least 199 foreign nationals to fill the flight. Currently, an additional 50 foreign national travelers are required.
• Potential travelers must show proof of an outbound international flight out of Manila or a hotel reservation in Manila.
• Travelers are required to inquire in person and present their documents at the information counter in the domestic departure area (Terminal 1) as soon as possible. In order to be waitlisted, travelers must include an active mobile number and email, so they can be informed about the sweeper flight.
• The flight is subject to the number of passengers who will purchase tickets at the Philippine Airlines (PAL) ticketing office located at the Mactan Airport.
• According to PAL, the cost of the flight from Cebu to Manila is Php 10,122 per passenger.

Consider your plan to shelter in place:  

While the U.S. Embassy is exploring all options to address the current travel disruptions, we strongly encourage U.S. citizens to make necessary preparations if staying in the Philippines during the quarantine period.  Please comply with local quarantine requirements and strictly follow local authorities.  

According to the Philippine Bureau of Immigration (BI):

 

  • All applications for visa extension are suspended during the Enhanced Community Quarantine, except for outbound passengers.
  • Foreigners whose visas will expire during the duration of the Enhanced Community Quarantine will be allowed to file an extension without fines and penalties if they file their applications within 30 days from the lifting of the Enhanced Community Quarantine.
  • All outbound passengers with a visa that expired during the period of the Enhanced Community Quarantine will be waived fines and penalties when applying for the visa update before departing the Philippines.

 

The U.S. Embassy encourages U.S. citizens to monitor BI's website for further advisories and announcements.

Consider your plan to shelter in place:  

While the U.S. Embassy is exploring all options to address the current travel disruptions, we strongly encourage U.S. citizens to make necessary preparations if staying in the Philippines during the quarantine period.  Please comply with local quarantine requirements and strictly follow local authorities.  

The U.S. Embassy encourages U.S. citizens to monitor the Philippine Bureau of Immigration's website for further advisories and announcements.

All Flights to Operate Out of Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1

As more and more air carriers suspend operations due to COVID-19, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) is streamlining its operations concentrating remaining flights to just one terminal - Terminal 1.

According to the Philippine Bureau of Immigration (BI):

 

  • All applications for visa extension are suspended during the Enhanced Community Quarantine, except for outbound passengers.
  • Foreigners whose visas will expire during the duration of the Enhanced Community Quarantine will be allowed to file an extension without fines and penalties if they file their applications within 30 days from the lifting of the Enhanced Community Quarantine.
  • All outbound passengers with a visa that expired during the period of the Enhanced Community Quarantine will be waived fines and penalties when applying for the visa update before departing the Philippines.
