Laptop Screen Replacement

Recommended Posts

I have an old laptop Toshiba (U200 Intel Core Duo T2400) which I keep as a backup... every 6 months or so I connect it up to update W10...

This time:

So I found a replacement screen (and following their advice checked the part number) and in doing so discovered all this white powdery stuff behind the screen:

Which I assume is something to do with the LCD crystals rotting away or leaking out... ?

The new screen will cost me P2400 with shipping...

Am I wasting my money here - I mean is it likely the damage is more than just the screen - boots up fine and still works - lots of disk noise (probably needs a clean up inside)...?
