Pellet Rifle

I would like to buy a good quality pellet rifle for target practice and to use against dogs who wander on my property and chase my cats. Thankfully none have caught my felines family. Does anyone have experience with pellet rifles? Or know where to purchase one? Brands? Quality? The manager of my property had a pellet rifle but it did not last very long. It used a CO2 cartridge and seemed to have a good range of 30 meters for accurate shots. Are there any restrictions on ownership? Thanks ahead.

Sure.  Not watch how fast your at police station with 20 locals calling you the evil foreigner as to trespass it will be your trespassing in our country but hey will make a great thread

Threaten them with a case of canine trespass and they will realize that wasn't their dog after all. A pellet gun won't likely kill a dog but if it does, provide funeral services.

Put a solid piece of meat in the clamp, power up and watch the dogs as they rapidly depart, never to return!:hyper::animal0019:

They may roam free and are never attended but doesn't mean they won't be claimed to be "owned" if you shoot at one - if fact may have 4 or 5 owners at front door.

I think in the Philippines, 'providing funeral services' for a dog is the same as saying, "Let's have a BBQ." Some of my wife's cousins in Carcar have air rifles that could easily kill any dog (and have). My suggestion on this is that, while street dogs may be annoying, it is best to let your Filipino neighbors take care of them. Shooting a neighbor's dog (and i use that term loosely), even if you didn't realize somebody owned the dog, will NOT make you more welcome in the neighborhood.

Many modern air rifles have penetration equivalent to a .22LR, and many of them have scopes mounted for accuracy. They are quite capable of killing a dog.

Featured snippet from the web

A powerful . 22 caliber air rifle such as a Benjamin Discovery or Marauder fires a 14.3 grain pellet with a muzzle velocity of approximately 900 ft/sec. The firearm generates a muzzle energy of approximately 130 ft lbs of energy at the muzzle whereas that of the air rifle is only about 26 ft lbs.

Benjamin Discovery - not cheap $330

There are no restrictions on ownership of air rifles. We own one manufactured by Armscor and it would take down a dog.

Sure, but I don't think that's what he had in mind. Maybe?

If simply for deterrent then a pistol  - plastic 6 MM BBs would suffice

10 / 12 M range
